So a couple of years back I decided to make an elysian drop grots army, bought a load of 2nd edition terribly painted models off ebay, did minimal conversions to them and fielded them with the drop troopers list.

Now I'm back onto rebel grots, doing it proppa, from scratch. also only using the standard astra militarum codex for 'ems this time.

Pictures of what I've got so far:

Engineseer with one plasmacannon servitor and one WIP plascannon servitor:

Infantry squad one:

Infantry Squad 2:

Ratlings:

Hydra/Wyvern (barrels are removable):

2 Chimeras:

Commisar (currently lord commissar to make the army legal until i remake my C. Command squad):

And to show that they are a bit taller than normal grots, but still shorter than regular 'oomies:

Currently aiming to get a platoon command squad and a company command squad made up in the near future, then make a proper unit of veterans and start using the 2 squads I have as regular guardsmen instead of sub-par veterans with only one special weapon. Also Grotting-up the vehicles a bit, but a lot of that will hopefully happen in the painting stage, and need to source some camo-netting.... Need to come up with a paint scheme, thinking red as it'll make the green skin pop.

Very nice, especially the heavy weapon cyborgs. My only disappointment is that you've done the vehicles 'straight' rather than grotifying them - or is that still to be done?

How did you shorten the standard astra militarum bodies?

How do you make them shorter than normal guardsmen?

You love the T-Rex. Its both a hero and a Villain in the first two movies. It is the "king" of dinosaurs. Its the best. You love your T-rex.
Then comes along the frakking Spinosaurus who kills the T-rex, and the movie says "LOVE THIS NOW! HE IS BETTER" But...in your heart, you love the T-rex, who shouldn't have lost to no stupid Spinosaurus. So you hate the movie. And refuse to love the Spinosaurus because it is a hamfisted attempt at taking what you loved, making it TREX +++ and trying to sell you it.

To shorten them I remove a wedge at the waist, to make them lean forward more so they don't stare up all the time, and cut the section of boot between the foot and trousers out. makes them a head shorter, every time. it's a really handy reference point.

I'll take pics to explain it better next squad I make.
