Playing a small friendly game today to teach a friend some new rules. I built this list before I knew what he was taking. I'm curious as to whether it's too nasty.... Ive taught a few friends in friendly games recently, am taking it easy seems to be getting me hammered every time....

He's taking blood angels. We're both unbound. He has mephiston, a priest, 4 TH/SS terminators, a land raider redeemer, and 6 assault marines with two meltas and grav pistol in a drop pod.

Here's mine....

Unbound detachment.

HQ - Daemon Prince, Wings, Power armour, Mark of Khorne, Axe of Blind Fury, Gift of Mutation. (possible warlord)

HQ - Kharn the Betrayer

Troops - Khorne Bezerkers x8. Champion has a lightening claw. Veterans of the long war.

Land raider, Dirge caster.

I'm contemplating running the daemon Prince from the daemons codex. Instead of the axe and gift, I can squeeze in 1 lesser and 2 greater rewards. Not sure if that's better or worse than hatred towards marines and a daemon weapon. I also get the warp storm table....... But with that comes daemonic instability....

Touche on the crimson slaughter relics... I wanted fear for the bezerkers. It'll be a regular CSM selection then I'll edit it. BUT DP's most definitely can take a gift of mutation....

Or just have kharn as the warlord? Then he can be crimson slaughter, and the zerkers and the prince can be whatever, its unbound.

I thought mephiston was super cheese? I guess he's been toned down in the new book.

Fair one. Not that fear matters against blood angels... So it's not an issue.

Mephiston is still very very good. I feel it's a bit of cheese when wrapped in a unit with a 2+, 3++ and 5+ FnP inside a AV14 raider. A mini deathstar at 850 points....

It's an unbound list so he can take the Axe of Blind Fury on his Daemon Prince. Also Daemon Prince may take the Gift of Mutation, Chaos Space Marine Codex Page 94 Chaos Rewards.

DP is better off with a Mace than an Axe.

Why is he? How much armour can he take on with a mace? I think against this opponent you're probably right....... I might go for it actually.....

Yeah my mistake on the GoM. I did not realise it was listed under the Chaos Rewards section.

Regarding the Daemons codex DP; a Khornate DP wouldn't benefit as much due to no psyker upgrade. Normally, I prefer Daemons DP's for their access to disciplines without having to roll on their patron god's table a la the CSM codex.

Yeah I agree on that. But I'm a khorne world esters player. I'm somewhat restricted by fluff...

Kharn opens up landraiders. Meltabomb sarge. Besides, your own landraider has LC.
See, it's more about who charges who. If you're in the open exploding his LR, he's gona kill you on his charge. If he's the one striking a landraider, you have more chances due to higher damage output cause you'll be charging.
He has an upper hand in face of 2 meltas in a pod and PoTMS + MM on a landraider. So, could be a good idea to actually bauble wrap yours with khornates and DP in the first place against the droppod alpha-strike. Don't go flying - just jump from cover to cover jinking like mad.
Axe or mace - it's more about positioning for this matchup.
