Hi all;

Known locally as "that old guy," my FLGS recommend dakka and after lurking around for a bit, I must say it's quite impressive.

WHFB and 40k wares fill up most of the shelving in my house that's out of reach of the littler kids (and the cats), so advice on those fronts is what I'm after!

Welcome, we've got more than our share of old vets!

I started playing GW games around '93 if that's any guide.

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka

Welcome. 43 here. I think to actually qualify as an 'old guy' on Dakka, you'd need to be about 70 , and even then, if you're playing table-top games, you're still at least somewhat young-at-heart

Age matters not.
Its how old you think and feel that counts.

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

I have no clue how Dakka's moderation work. I expect it involves throwing a lot of d100 and looking at many random tables.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all.

I'm in Wausau, raised on D&D along with Avalon Hill and SPI games. When Space Hulk came out, that started me on the GW path (about 1990, I suppose). WHFB came soon after and then 40k when that hit the game store (marines and orks!).

Currently, I have a pretty massive selection of WoC, Beastmen, Demons, Ogres and Skaven, mostly older metal (except for Ogres), plus a good-sized Space Marine force.

I'm also something of a Luddite; my wife's the smartphone user in the house (my phone is mainly used as a pocket watch). I'll see about getting her to snap some pics of my junk sometime!

Good to hear from you all!

That would be great; thanks!
We used to have two game stores in town, but the one that held tourneys closed down last fall. The one that's left mainly has CCG stuff, which interests me not at all.
