Hi everyone,

We asked around to find a cooperative game which would be good to play for those of us to aren't super good at figuring out complex rules (at least not without lots of practice)....

Forbidden Desert was a suggestion - so we've tried it out.

Would summarize it by explaining that you arrange a "Desert" of cards on your table or floor. These are face-down. Then, you "walk" through the desert as one of 6 characters. You and your team mates try to find the pieces of a flying machine. You rescue these and get them to your launch-pad where you fly away and win.

The game dynamics result in sand shifting around - messing you up and slowing you down.

Overall it was fun - and right away got us thinking about related games we could try (with the same cards - or some modified ones).... We're thinking that a version tailored to Mars would be cool.

Bottom line - yes, it has been fun to play (we've played 3 times so far). Watching a Youtube video to figure out the rules *really* helped.

Here's a write-up with some photos. http://battlegaming1.blogspot.com/2015/01/forbidden-desert-cooperative-pve-game.html

We're eager to keep practicing games like this one so that we can work our way up to the more complicated ones. (We watched people playing Invasion recently - and that looked like LOTS of fun.)
