Subject: Black Sails Season 2. (Jan 24) (There be spoilers, matey's!)
I was pleasantly surprised with season 1. I may rewatch the first season to get refreshed on what was going on. Its already been renewed for Season 3, so I'm sure this will end with a cliffhanger as well.

I only just caught onto this, but damn its good. I'd like to see where they take the plot and how long they string it out before we get to the whole Pirate King arc. ...If such a thing occurs I mean and it doesn't all go to pot for the guy. Ah, I mean we know it'll end bad given the books, but the circumstances haven't been lain out (ie doesn't it go well for him for a while first, or does it just all go down hill immediately. ...Or is the question even if what's said in the book is true at all). In any case from the series that I watched last year this one certainly has me hooked.
* Edit: Damn that was such an unintentional lame pun at the end there.

He'll be back, well at least he turns up in the book and he was a good enough character that I'd hate to see him wasted. Then again another prominent character died in the last episode which was a real shame.

Spoiler the parts from a book written in the 1880's? Or the show?

Subject: Black Sails Season 2. (Jan 24) (There be spoilers, matey's!)
So far I'm hoping that they take the route of following the book in spirit, but changing things on technicalities. As in say how the good old captain apparently drunk himself to death. I'd like to think the series will handle that by having that being a lie (having had all the power, but doing what Mr Gates said in the finale, giving it all up and living with his lover), or rather he does drink himself to death, but only after a truly epic rise to power, and eventual fall which leads to suicidal depression (he's a determinator, but what happens when there really is nowhere else to go for once?). Overall as long as by the end Flint's been the Pirate King (I'm assuming that's the series' interpretation of him being the most feared pirate ever as the book puts it), Long John done his betrayal (or he gets the power by Flint just giving it to him after Flint's downfall), the treasure has to be hidden away for whatever reason (perhaps Flint doing that to keep it away from Long John, I can't remember the exact circumstances) and Billy Bones crops back up in time for Flint to tell him where the treasure is (be it directly or not) I'll be more than happy.
I've powered through a lot of series lately (blame exam leave) and I can say that Black Sails had to be one of the most engrossing, be it through just the general setting, or some rather enjoyable characters. I don't know you but I'm all for seeing a rise of Captain Rackam arc.

Decent episode, expected a bit more for the premiere though.
Spoiler:
John Silver is such a fun character, the banter between him and Captain Flint is always fun. The new pirate captain at the very beginning is pretty disturbing, going to be fun seeing him interact with the rest. Wonder who that sick girl was...

I was pretty happy with the premiere - good action, snappy dialogue. I think it's one of my favorite shows, although I am not a huge fan of John Silver.
I am enjoying the development of Anne Bonny's character beyond "surly and violent".
New captain seems intriguing.

Great 2nd season premiere episode. Handles the cliff hanger well and in a believable way. Flint is the "man with a plan," although he can be his own worst enemy as we have seen. Loved the part where Silver is going for the "bauble" and the schools Flint on why. Having the episode's ending play out in later ones should prove interesting.
Very enjoyable as always.
Such watchable characters and it has great pacing, just keeps ticking along, none of this overly dramatic, drawn out crap you sometimes see.

Episode 2. Things moved alot faster than I thought, some highlights:
Spoiler:
BILLY!!!!
Ned Lowe is a baaaad bad dude. Poor Mister Meeks, I liked him because he reminded me of Nathan Fillion.
Flint has got his ship back. Loved how Silver got his place back in the crew
Captain Jack Rackham!
Don't much care for the Downtown Abbey flashbacks.

I think it was more remorse, as he genuinely cared for Anne Bonney and/or the gravity and seriousness of the plan he had just concocted. We'll see I guess.

The new pirate captain is Ned Lowe, one of the most vicious pirates of his age(as you can tell). It'll be interesting to see how they deal with him, as historically there isn't anything concrete about his final fate.
And yeah, I loved the "Piracy for Dummies" commentary that Flint gave.

Rackham does seem to genuinely care for Anne. Probably decided it was better to "share" her than not have her at all. He also said that all he ever wanted for her was that she be happy.
Maybe with his ever planning mind he decided in the occasional romp with a gal made her happy then he would accept it. The times being what they were back then this seems plausable, to me at least.

The fate of Lowe is known now... I expected him to be the villian of this season, but it seems the writers are focused on the struggles for the Urca de Lima. I like that. They could've easily went the route of "Pirate of the month" and made it a different kind of show, but the goal is the same now as it was in the very first episode.
Rackham got his reputation back, and some extra... booty. Score!
Love how Flint manipulates his crew, although I don't care for his quartermaster and hope he finds an end somewhere. I think all of the crew that tried to stop him during the aborted attack on the Urca will get some revenge pie served.
