Welcome, welcome. You have chosen, or been chosen to, relocate to one of our finest remaining hobby centers. In fact, I think so much of DakkDakka that I've chosen to make this the center of my operations.

On offer for critique today is the start of my two simultaenous Infinity projects; one, nominally Haqqislam is the reason for my ever so subtle references, and the 2nd has nothing to do with it whatsoever, but I figured I'd post them as I finish for posterity.

While I apologise for the lack of perfect focus on my macro lense; the broad pose of this Kaplan-come-Civil Protection Officer makes getting decent focus challenging.

The colour scheme is quite dark; the Kaplans will be the darkest of all the models I do, with the Civil Protection colours being mostly black and white, whereas later models will be more creative.

Freehand symbols are hell. Especially on small, slightly curved surfaces.

Since taking these photos, I've since touched up the Combine symbol a little more, and the slightly uneven left kneepad (macro lenses are wonderful for spotting deficiencies).

Now, onto something more colourful; Le 8éme Régiment d'Infanterie de la Montagne, or in Infinity parlance, Briscards:

Glorious beards. Being, in theory, re-enlisted veterans, I stuck to gray/white facial hair, though the last, as of yet unfinished one might retain a bit more youthful vigor

The real-world French army is, like real-world France, quite cosmopolitaine; I intend on scattering a few non-European complexions into the mix, though I honestly don't know if France today matches Merovingia of Infinity in terms of ethnic makeup.

The third Briscard's skintone ended up being a bit more red than I had intended. I'll just say he's out of breath, it works, right?

[/url]

A whopping 75 or so points done for Merovingia; only 225ish to go!

Next on the hit list over the coming days; the last of the 4 Briscards currently in my possession, and time permitting, another Civil Protection Officer.

Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.

I love those Briscards. They have a real "near future", military look to them.

I may just be the focus, but I'm not feeling the Kaplans as much, love the models though I do. I think it's the black and white, which just doesn't feel right. The shades of black (or dark grey) are too uniform. Perhaps if you did some urban camouflage on their flak jackets?

The models might benefit from better lighting in the photos. The sickly beige tinge does nothing for them.
