If I understand correctly, Corvus armor was field tested by the Raven Guard legion prior to the Horus Heresy, and then they received the first mass produced shipment after the Drop Site Massacre.

However, while looking at the cover for Galaxy in Flames, I noticed that at least 2 Death Guard are going into battle wearing what looks like Mk. 6 "Beakies," but this is during the Isstvan III battle, before mass production of the helmets should have started.

Can anyone explain this to me? Kinda confused by this.

Galaxy in Flames was the third volume of the trilogy.

If you check the covers of the first two books you'll note the one about the Luna Wolves has Sons of Horus on the cover whilst the book with Sons of Horus in has Luna Wolves on the cover.

Basically, accurate covers aren't really a priority for Black Library.

The earlier HH novels as stated weren't overly bothered about the accuracy of the covers. Some of the armour on the first couple looks like no other marks or armour, just completely made up, as mentioned the actual legion (SoH vs Luna Wolves) is wrong...

Even later on the armour seems to be 'I'll draw some cool power armour' but at least the legions are correct.

Alot of times Artists role with the Rule of Cool, and to the warp with nconsistencies.

Do you ever go into a fight thinking "there's no point giving it my best, I'll get another chance later?"

Yeah, Flight of the Eisenstein has what looks to be the Battle of Terra on it.

Which means that the Death Guard that were with Garro get another romp.
