I recently finished one of my best models to date so I'm celebrating by posting here. A new model for the leader of my Space Marines, Captain Angholan of the Kingbreakers:

It's painted well, I just think you have too many colors going on.

Definitely a valid opinion. It's more muted in actual play, the full white background and lighting in the pics makes it brighter than in real life. Most people in our group consider it among the more vaguely realistic-ish, semi-drab Space Marine schemes we have.

Either way, I think the whole army looks pretty solid with that scheme applied consistently:

Thanks for the comment!

Cool chapter name, they do look better in the other pic without the white background.

I really dig the name! Got some fluff for it?

Concerning the colors I gotta agree, there are too many. I'd cut the blue, makes one think of librarians too much.

There would be two pieces of critique regarding the colour scheme:

1. Blue and Green: Ghastly combination of colours, especially since you chose very intense shades (at least for the highlights).

2. Thematic coherency: At the moment it seems like they grabed their pants from one rack, the chestpiece from another, and the arms from another one still. There is nothing than hints at it all being one complete set of armour.

That being said; the models do look decently painted, and my complaints are more about style than technique.

Thanks! I have absolutely much too much fluff. The short story on the name is that it comes from the chapter's founding, when a squad of scouts on a training mission crushed a heretic that had declared himself a king and denied the Imperium. Hence their chapter icon of the sword shattering a crown. Early on I made decals of it for all my guys & vehicles, which really made the army standout and gave it a lot of narrative momentum.

The chapter's actually collected a long storyline over the years, connecting together all my Imperial armies and introducing the characters, with the plot influenced by my friends' armies I've fought regularly, the directions my collection has taken, etc.. There's a timeline and a couple more action photos here:

Very well applied paintjob! Great brush control leading to a tidy finish.... but that scheme though! haha. Each to their own

The paint quality's good, but I agree with the others in that there's too many colours going on. Also, I'm not too sure on the pose: He's got his sword behind him, his gun aimed to shoot a second guy, and his head's not even looking at any of them.
