I'm attending a kings of war tourney 2015 and I've only recently picked up the game when I acquired four undead battleforces...I'm playing tons of games but I don't want to pee off the competitors if I turn up and make a mistake or ask a dumbass question as most of the people I play against are life long geedubs players like me so we are all roughly the same level and probs make mistakes. I play lots of other systems and confident with my grasp but I may do things wrong and not realise!
Secondly it's 1600pts, what advice list wise in order to give people a good game, be competitive and also not break any unwritten norms or rules!
I'm looking at three hordes of skeleton spearmen, one revenant regiment, one demi-reg of mummies, two liche's and a revenant king. Got dogs, banners, musicians ect where I can take them.
Going to have a jiggle and try and squeeze in a standard bearer.
Thanks (any description of your gaming experience of a kow tourney appreciated)

Just explain at the start of each game, as you have here, that you are of limited experience.
99.9% of guys will be cool, and maybe relax the gas a little (as it's not Warmachine).
I'm sure everyone there will be after some fun. THat's all

Hey dude, welcome to Kings of War!!!
First off, im really glad you are entering one of our tournaments! But seriously, don't worry about being new or making "noob" mistakes. The player base for Kings of War is incredibly friendly and all anyone will want to do if you make a mistake is help you learn to become a better player!
As for the list as far as i have gathered from the people i have talked to, huge zombie hordes are your friend and warmachines make mince meat of anything they hit. Bear that in mind when writing your list and im sure you will be fine!
Which one are you going too? I'll be running them all so you will see me about!

Just bought my east regional ticket!! Very excited!
I'm a bit limited in that my hand was in a cast for blimin ages after being knocked off my bike by a car (great holiday that!) so my painting is a little bit....sub par! I'm hoping they don't end up looking too silly on the table! How's the scene with regards to painting standards in tourney? Mine ain't going to win any golden daemon trophies
I've got tons of mantic now (been aquiring them for years and keeping them back as a project) but the zombies are staying on the shelf unpainted! Its going to be a dry undead army

All we ask for is 2 colour armies! Even less than the usual tournament standard!

Brilliant fun. Would recommend any mantic event to everyone on dakka if the one I attended is the norm.
Great competitive atmosphere with a wide variety of armies (not something I'm used to in my other gaming systems...)
Well organised and well run.
Great networking (got a load of games organised off the back of attendance)
And finally even though I was being thumped in several games I always felt I could swing it back with a few rolls or some new move.
That's my opinion on that! Also the games looked like those epic and felt like those epic 90's whitedwarf battle reports that made me want to play fantasy.

Really jealous of you folks. I was unable to attend the KoW tournament recently and won't be able to do the Adepticon events either. Some day….

I'd love a KoW tourney!! If anyone knows of one in CT or the surrounding areas, I'd love to jump into one!

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

I was given 'most sporting' prize. Makes me happy that one does!!! I like being a official non-d@ck.
If you do get a tourney organised good luck! Take a few warmachines and use the rules from the regional (it's fair and balanced.
I took an army of just skeletons

Sounds decent, and a top crowd. I'll pop along to the NWGC leg to spectate and get a feel for the game. I'd sign up but I just won't have an army in time. SAD FACE.

A lot of the guys didn't quite finish painting (literally two colours) no one minded. I really would emphasis a speed attempt to try and participate!! It was fun rushing to get ready!
I'm attending the grand final drop me a PM and I will give you a game if we ain't tournament'ed (should that be tourmented haha) out! Also if you take pics of your game or write a batrep send us a link! Good luck man.

I mean getting enough models together - and deciding which army: Orcs, Dwarfs or Ogres. Or Undead?! Hmmm... I wouldn't need many Ogres would I?!
That'd be grand, HH, thanks. I'll be in touch nearer the time!

I saw some guys a week ago playing at the LGS. One guy had a great-looking Dwarf army and the other guy had an undead army from GW. The Dwarf army was multi-based and looked really cool.
I am personally trying to decide if I want to play KoW (amongst my other games) and if so, which army (I'm leaning toward Abyssal Dwarfs, Orcs or Ogres).

Ogres were given as freebie to participate and I really like the models. I love my undead but I'm started to fancy pike phalanx's and handguns...

The flexibility of KoW is one of it's best qualities. Outside of a tournament (and sometimes not even then) no one expects you to have all the right-brand of minis. Here's 2 battle we did last year displaying a particularly wide range of minis on the table.

My wife's made extraordinarily positive experience with the KoW crowd. Only met very nice people so far.
