The Salamander chapter tactic states that a character can make one weapon mastercrafted - could I have mastercrafted grenades?

I have Vulkan He'stan in my army and he already has rerolls on his flamer from the chapter tactic and his melee lance is already mastercrafted so that leaves ether his bolt pistol or grenades.

Thanks.

Yep! They're just regular 'ol weapons, so mastercraft away.

Another good application: in a Vulkan army, if you give a Sgt a combimelta, you can mastercraft his krak grenades or meltabombs (since his combimelta will already be benefiting from Vulkan's buff)

Didn't think about that - thanks for the tip!

I'm not so sure grenades are weapons. They are not listed under Ranged Weapons, nor Melee Weapons (they have their own section in the rulebook), and they are listed as Special Issue Wargear in the codex.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

They have a weapons profile, why aren't they weapons?

Some psychic powers have weapon profiles. Are they weapons?

I dont have the book on me, but I'm pretty sure that in some codices, grenades are listed under the "ranged weapons table" and the "melee weapons table" in the back of the book, quick reference charts. I don't recall seeing any psychic powers on those charts.

Grenades are listed under weapons in the main rule book, and they no longer have the clause that said they could never be master crafted.

Actually they're under 'Grenades of the 41st Millennium' in the Appendix.

My rulebook (little, and epub) list grenades in their own section: "Grenades of the 41st Millennium", right after Ranged Weapons and Melee Weapons.

Look at the page margins, it says weapons.
