The Plantations

2014 was a very bad year for me in terms of painting. Due to a mix of work, illness, and a dual Engineering major class schedule allowing for less free time than a prison, I painted a whopping grand total of a single miniature last year.
My miniature acquisition rate was not anywhere close to that. The job I worked allowed me to bank a high sum of funds, and a good amount of said funds got dropped into buying into a number of Kickstarters, and buying mini's to use in a mix of tabletop games and RPG's. Now, with the advent of a new year, I'm sitting on several boxed of blister packs and other assorted mini's waiting to be painted:

Probably about 75 single mini's in these boxes, all for various RPG's:

A few drawers of Darklands/Mierce stuff along with more single mini's:

And about 3k of Necrons not photographed that are in a box somewhere, waiting for me to buy an airbrush.

And in the near future, I've got the mini's from several Kickstarters arriving this year: 2 Meirce, 2 Mantic, Fireteam Zero, Demigods, Minion Miniatures, a massive Kingdom Death, and about 4 other KS's.

My goal is to have all of what I currently own to be completed by the end of the year, and I need to use this as a way to keep my self motivated and moving forward. Needless to say I have my work cut out for me.

The Plantations

So it's been over a month. Between tearing my rotator cuff and all the free time that my classes permit, tonight's been the first night of the year I've been able to paint.

Worked on some bases to ease back into things, get the muscle memory starting up again. Just a few Micro Arts Studio Graveyard bases. The big one will have a Reaper Colossal Skeleton on it when it's done.

They're not completed yet, still have to add details on the stone/graves, the leaves need to be done, the rotting coffin wood needs to be finishes, and the skulls need to be weathered. But all in all feeling pretty good about getting going again.

Another few hours of work and the Graveyard bases are just about complete. I'll probably add rusted metallics to the coffin crosses, and then a black border.

Spoiler:

I also glued together and GS'd the Reaper Skeleton except for the hammer arm which is just pushed into the socket to brace him. I'm not sure if I should glue it in first because it crosses in front of the body or if it shouldn't matter since the size.

Spoiler:

I'm also debating on having Green Stuff flames pouring out of his eye's, mouth, and ribs and painting them necrotic green fire.

2 days in a row of painting. WOOOO!!! I'll finish the rest of the bases tomorrow morning and then move onto the other 18 bases I have sitting on the desk before I move on to mini's.

Process has been slow. School and what not.

I've also been a little bit gun shy over painting again since it's been quite a while so I've been sticking to just bases right now until I get back to doing figures.

These are the sets I've finished:

Finished Graveyard Bases

Finished Stone Bases

Finished Ruined Evil Temple Bases/Finished Wooded bases in the back

The bases are looking pretty good.

Maybe a small figure now?

Forgive me now! Tomorrow I may no longer feel guilty...
