Went to my first OP event today. It was the RIF OP3, with 90 points plus a blind listed as the format. Due to Wizkids current stocking/shipping issues we did not have blinds available (other than a couple the store still had from a previous RIF) so it became a "buy any ship from the shelf and use 30 points from it" event. I didn't have an Enterprise E yet, and knew that the basic sovereign was 30 and would bring another high number of attack dice to my list. Today was also my first time playing more than the demo, so I went easy mode with double Sphere's, one with Picard 9, one with the Tactical drone that simulates a target lock. If I had my way I would have ran my Romulans, but due to the mentioned stocking/shipping problems, no stores in my area had what I needed to finish that build. I had pretty much settled on not playing to the scenario, because it seemed like doing so was a losing proposition, so it became a day of jousting and learning how flees synergize, not mine of course since it was pretty basic, but my opponents had some cool combos.

Game 1 vs Mirror Defiant with Picard, Worf Admiral, Ind Klingon Flagship; Assimilated B'rel with Dukat, Borg Ablative Hull, and the Blind Scout Cube
I do not remember upgrades other than what is listed above, but it was a slaughter, the B'Rel and Defiant just ate my ships (with Worf handing out free attacks), and it was over quickly. Great opponent, took time to explain what was going on and show me everything and how it synergizes. Was a very fun game.

Game 2 vs Tiny Enterprise with Janeyway, Tom First Officer, Ilia Sci Officer, Shelby Ops Officer, and something that let him take an aux token to add 2 evades when he had no shields left; Chang's Bird of Prey with the Prototype Cloaking device and a skill 3 captain, and he had the Vidiian Fina Orime as his buy in ship.
Fun game, my opponent and I misread the scenario (and didn't know about all the rulings made on it) and after losing his non Enterprise ships thought he could try to draw me into Borg space while relying on the Anti-Borg Shelby and his 3 evade tokens. I could just move around and wait him out cause Borg get smacked hard by the Scenario borg so I just waited for him to eventually he get back out of Borg Space and it took me rolling a lot of hits to finally eat the Enterprise. Lost my Sovereign this game (it was a theme today).

Game 3 vs Tac Cube 001 w/Queen, Trager w/Macet, and the Fina Prime with Generic
TO wanted to run his ships from the kit and everyone was fine with that. It was another joust game, but I was able to come out on top after knocking the cube out early with concentrated fire and getting behind the other ships with my Spheres, and Scan tokens plus lots of attack dice (and him taking the Fina Prime into Borg Space) did the rest. Once again lost the Sovereign but it seemed to be what it was meant to do in my list.

Walked away 2-1, having a lot of fun and was given a Trager prize for my first event. Looks like the local AW OP group is great, and all my opponents were amazingly friendly and helpful as I stumbled through my first games. Can't wait for the next one.

I look forward to attempting an OP myself sometime in the future (and getting curbstomped for playing fleet pure...).

I had originally planned to run Fleet Pure Romulans, but by the time I found out that none of the local stores had Scimitar, Praetus, or more than 1 Valdore in stock it was too late to order from online and have it arrive in time. Hopefully with no Blinds for the next OP, I will be able to get my desired 120 point list on the board.

I believe Mr Baldrick came up with a nasty twin scim list for 90pts the other day.

After RIF there has been no word on any new blind ship bricks. unless they reprint the other 2 sets which is doubtfull, your going to see 120 builds for fleets.

Not necessarily, we may be going back to 100pts. Both the Tholian Web and Arena were 100pts. At 100pts and the new restrictions it would allow for some more of the smaller ships to make an impact. It would be nice to see some mirandas, Jem Hadar Fighters, and Romulan BoP outside of casual play.

120pts fleets are not a good idea. If it becomes the norm double sphere + double Hideki will become the standard.
