I'm needing to supplement my GK alpha strike list with some decent AP weapons, so I've gone with Salamander melta.

Fortification:
Imperial Bunker w. Comm Relay

GK:
2x Librarians, ML3, Staves. (with termie squads)

1x Termie Squad (5), 4 Halberds, 1 Hammer.
1x Termie Squad (5), 4 Halberds, 1 Hammer.

2x NDKs, each with Heavy Incinerator and Teleport Pack.

Salamanders:
1x Vulkan, in Cmd Squad
1x Cmd Squad (5), 5 Vets, 5x Meltaguns, Drop Pod

1x Legion of the Damned (5), 1x Multimelta, 1x Meltagun, 1x Plasma Pistol

1x Tac Squad (5), 1x Meltagun, 1x Combi-weapon, Drop Pod

1x Assault Squad (5), Drop Pod - (last minute addition just to get a 3rd pod, seems wasteful to me)

Inquisition:
1x Ordos Malleus, 3x Servo Skulls

The idea is to first turn pod in Sallys and Deepstrike GKs, blink NDKs up the field. Libs hopefully each get Cleansing Flame to clear chaff, and NDKs incinerate soft hordes. Sallys (hopefully) take care of high armor targets. Second turn ideally is more of the same, then some GK melee fun. Any ideas on how to make this better?

Take five point hammers on librarians
Psycannons on termie squads
Psycannons on dreadknights with incinerators
Two Flamers on five man assault squad
Drop Legion of the damned for sterngaurd with lots of combi melta that can get more / better melta for similar points.... Maybe even drop small assault squad and legion but keep the pod and put in sterngaurd... Two birds with one stone

I disagree with dropping legion. They ignore cover and can fire their multi melta the turn they arrive. In a salamanders army I always take at least 1 squad.

WI

Vulkan's special rule making melta master-crafted does not work unless he is the warlord.

I make bad decisions and think they are good.

Thats easily fixed. Just make the salamanders the core detachment with a gk ally instead. Legion will always be better than sternguard with vulkan around

You understand that the NDKs can deep strike as well right? You don't need to shunt them up, and can in fact save them from other alpha strike armies by reserving them then deep striking them in turn one with the Nemisis Strike Force detachment rule. I know you sacrifice "mobility" but to be honest your cheap pods should be able to land and hold objectives that the NDK would want to shunt to and you should be concerned with your opponents back line and keep them in close combat anyways. That saves you 60 points.

Strike squads can deep strike as well, and also can take the same load out as your terminators, for 55 points cheaper. With those extra points you can buy another strike squad. Combined with the 60 from the personal teleporters and 85 from the assault squad you could have an extra 255 points to put wherever you want. Oh, change the plasma pistol for a combi-melta. Just trust me, it's worth it, and that squad shouldn't stick around for more then a turn or two anyways.

You could put the Libbys in vulkan's command pod too if you want. That way you get them turn one guaranteed. (I know you've fumbled reserve rolls even with that relay).

The inquisitor's servo skulls are actually not needed, if you math out the chances of you failing deep strike on a proper placement you will see that you actually don't need skulls.
Quick example: A strike squad deep striking 10 inches away from an IG gunline with nothing but terrain has a 2/3 chance of scattering, 1/8 chance of going the direction you don't want it to, and a 1/6 chance of scattering more then 10 inches.

Pods don't need skulls, they're pods.

I would suggest grabbing the 34 points from the inquisitor and the 260 points from the other upgrades and grabbing literally more units of anything else. Maybe a sternguard squad in a pod and some scouts, or maybe a few more tacticals. You decide.

A lot of great points and ideas! Very much appreciated. I will update the post when I adjust the list.
