Is Terminator Armor an acceptable thing to run as Artificier Armor?

Would a Terminator with extra ornate armor and a converted longsword make a good "Counts As" Honor Guard for my Chapter Master? I am making a Terminator themed army and want to avoid this conversation. I also want to make a Terminator Chapter Master.

Opponent: Wow! Nice army! Lots of termies!
Me: Thanks!
Opponent: What's with those power armor guys? I thought you said it was all termies?
Me: That's Artificier Armor. For some reason some guys can't take Terminator armor, but I wanted to run them. It still provides a 2+ save.
Opponent: Wow... That clashes a lot... Why does Power Armor looking stuff give a 2+ save?

The problem with your theoretical dialogue is that termies get an invul as well, they are not equivalent to artificer. If you're running any OTHER termies on the table, it then gets super confusing.

It'd be fine for a "I'm testing these guys out" game, but nothing more IMO. They're on bigger bases and look nothing alike.

Maybe it's just me, but from my experience, I would expect the opposite reaction. 'Terminator' means more than just a 2+ save.

I wouldn't recommend doing so, as it would get very confusing.

But if you still want to do it, you should take care to explain that the honor guards have artificer armor before the game, as it could affect how your opponent plays if he/she assumes the HG have an invulnerable when they don't.

I don't know the current Dark Angels codex, as I haven't played them in five years, but do they have access to Terminator Command Squads or Honor Guard? You might look at them.

If your army is full of terminators, then terminators counts as artificer is going to get way too confusing just in order to keep the aesthetics.

The way I would suggest is if you can get ahold of something like the FW Tartorus Pattern terminators, something that looks clearly different to your other terminators and say "These unique, different looking ones are honour guard" (fluff it out that whilst maintenance of the relic suits has kept them function they are now bleeding energy from outdated reactors and are unable to maintain their energy fields)
