Please forgive the name.

In an alternate reality where the Necrontyr retreated from the galaxy rather than sealing themselves away for the Long Sleep, the limited number of sapient Necrons became a problem when rebuilding the armies. Warriors were useless for anything but cannon fodder, but the Immortals retained enough sapience to be useful as unit leaders. The most intelligent were retrained as drovers to lead the vast new armies of Canoptek war-robots into battle and guide their wrath. Mounted upon Canoptek Spyder mounts, the Immortal adds little to the unit's combat capabilities, but as a control node, the benefits are immense. In a last, desperate bid to turn the tide against the New Necrontyr Empire, the Warp Gods reached through the last gap in the Pylon Network and ripped forth several of these new units, replacing them with the greatest commandos of the Prime Reality.

Basically, what would the Necrons do if they hid in another galaxy with no opposition and thus enough resources to build an entire, galaxy-consuming hoard? Also explains where Marbo went.

Wherever or not this changes with the new Codex I don't know, but the only other Canoptek units are Wraiths and Scarabs, both of which would hardly ever benefit enough from this to make it worthwhile.

Wraiths, Scarabs, Spyders, Tomb Stalkers, Tomb Sentinels, Sentry Pylons. All could benefit quite significantly.

Wraiths
- Already WS4/BS4
- Don't need Fleet, already fast enough
- Relentless only helps if they take Trans Beamers, which no-one in their right mind does.

Scarabs
+ WS4 helps
- Similar to Wraiths, already pretty fast
- No ranged weapons, makes BS4 and Relentless pointless

Spyders
+ WS4 and BS4 is nice, but not necessary
- Already Relentless
- Can't see why they'd need Fleet

Stakler and Sentinels
+ Suppose Fleet is useful on these
- Already Relentless
- Already WS4/BS4

Sentry Pylons
+ Already BS4
- WS is useless on Artillery
- Not sure how Relentless works on Artillery, but they're pretty powerful without moving, I can't see how this would change much.

Sorry, I'd never pay 75pts for these very minor upgrades. If there's something they can "benefit significantly" from, then I'm not seeing it.

Are you forgetting the fact it also does everything a regular Spyder does but in Elites? >> Or does the image of Necrons riding Spyders just not do it for you?

Yet the Spyder is 1/3rd cheaper in points. To be honest I hadn't read the fluff description but now you're mentioning Necrons riding Spyders it sounds even more ridiculous.

This unit is simply fixing a problem that doesn't exist.

It's not supposed to fix anything. Maybe if you'd actually read the OP you might have had something useful to say instead of just putting me down?

Well we can start by not putting words into my mouth. I wasn't putting you down, I questioned the need for such a unit. If you're simply going to reply to criticism like that then why bother posting ideas in the first place?

This unit is overcosted and provides very little in terms of support.
