I... actually don't know. Help?

So, with my first box 'o Boyz coming in on monday (hopefully) I've started thinking about how I want to paint them. First of all, I want them to be pale. Think the Orcs (huh?) from Return Of The King. Their fluff so far is that they're from a volcanic planet, and the ashes have mixed with their algae blood, making them paler and paler. Their lifestyle of building cities in caves to escape from constant eruptions doesn't help either.
So, I want a light gray colour with NO green. How do I paint it? Black or white primer?

I'd start with white, give em a really heavy wash of thinned down balck, and then drybrush the hell out of em with progressively lighter grays. The trouble with going black to white is coverage, it always ends up looking like crap.

Split the difference and use grey primer.

Not sure if this helps, but I started with black for my Albinork nob, then built up layers of bleached bone and green glaze (you could use black/grey). I know its not exactly what you are looking for, but its definitely a pale ork

I agree, start with white and give them a few washes.
