We had a small turnout for OP2. I brought Vakka (named Silver) with Cold Breath, Paladin Rider, and Magic Missle, and a generic Ballista with Artillery Master. My blind boost was the Druid, which I took the named version with Bear Form and Call Lightning. For what it’s worth, I never used Bear Form all night.
Round 1: I played against a Blue Dragon, a Wizard, and something from the blind booster that I’ve already forgotten. I was able to get off a strong frost breath, that along with the paladin riders attack, took out the blue dragon. My bolt thrower finished off the wizard, and the Vakka grabbed the objective and took it off the board for the win.
Round 2: Lord Max with life drain, generic Red Dragon with no upgrades, and the blind booster Wizard with Lightning Bolt. Max put some earlier armor piercing wounds on Vakka, but between Vakka, the Paladin, the Druid, and the Ballista all focusing him, I was able to kill Max turn two. However, my druid then died and Vakka was in a horrible position. I kept forgetting to land Vakka and it took several turns for her to get turned around, in which time his Red flew off with the objective.
Round 3: I played against Balagos with the “six attacks a turn” close combat build, the Half-Dragon blind booster, and the wizard. They all stayed kinda close together so I was able to breath/ballista them down and ended up tabling him over a couple turns. That Balagos build is nasty, but Vakka’s three armor made him just effectively fishing for critical hits.
Vakka is a beast, but probably wasn’t the best option for this format. Too many points and couldn’t really make strong use of her ability. Can’t wait for season three!
