We had a small turnout for OP2. I brought Vakka (named Silver) with Cold Breath, Paladin Rider, and Magic Missle, and a generic Ballista with Artillery Master. My blind boost was the Druid, which I took the named version with Bear Form and Call Lightning. For what it’s worth, I never used Bear Form all night.

Round 1: I played against a Blue Dragon, a Wizard, and something from the blind booster that I’ve already forgotten. I was able to get off a strong frost breath, that along with the paladin riders attack, took out the blue dragon. My bolt thrower finished off the wizard, and the Vakka grabbed the objective and took it off the board for the win.

Round 2: Lord Max with life drain, generic Red Dragon with no upgrades, and the blind booster Wizard with Lightning Bolt. Max put some earlier armor piercing wounds on Vakka, but between Vakka, the Paladin, the Druid, and the Ballista all focusing him, I was able to kill Max turn two. However, my druid then died and Vakka was in a horrible position. I kept forgetting to land Vakka and it took several turns for her to get turned around, in which time his Red flew off with the objective.

Round 3: I played against Balagos with the “six attacks a turn” close combat build, the Half-Dragon blind booster, and the wizard. They all stayed kinda close together so I was able to breath/ballista them down and ended up tabling him over a couple turns. That Balagos build is nasty, but Vakka’s three armor made him just effectively fishing for critical hits.

Vakka is a beast, but probably wasn’t the best option for this format. Too many points and couldn’t really make strong use of her ability. Can’t wait for season three!

I thought the named white was Arvieturace?

Must be something new (from my perspective) - I've not seen anything capable of armour 3 - as you say, with armour 3 you essentially need armour piercing, or criticals, or don't bother, which leaves melee dragons in some trouble. Close Quarters is nice, but whilst Haste on top of that gets you six attacks per turn, as you say, I'd far rather pair it with bushwhack or charge, and have three attacks that actually *hurt*. My new favourite toy is the Iron Tail Spike - a wounded balagos essentially sashimi-ed a copper dragon in a single sweep in one game.

....Ah. Vakka is the Silver. Supposedly out next week at my FLGS. I shall laugh like a drain, as I'm intending to collect the metallics, whilst the other half does chromatics. "Paladin Rider" sounds interesting, too.

Well played, anyway. Blue dragons (two of them) were my nemesis in OP1 - two lightning breaths can flash-fry a dragon out of the sky with scary ease.

We need to get into the habit of landing, too. I won an Arvieturace at OP1, and am most concerned by the lack of any white turns whilst flying. I could take the Aerobat, I guess, but that range three tail and tail sweep makes the spike so damn tempting!

The scenario looks interesting. I'm not sure what I'll use - possibly copper dragons: Galadaeros can theoretically dart in and yell "yoink!" and once he's got it he'll be a bugger to catch, but I'm unsure. Taking out the gates will be a challenge with just coppers.

Nice to see the good dragons get a 'big stick' unit, finally.

Ooops, yea, Vakka is the named Silver not White. Edited accordingly
