I'm new to 40k and found out that if you have 30 termegaunts then you can take a tervigon as a infantry instead of hq but I haven't been able to find out what perks this gives you

nothing really except not using up a slot that you could put a Flyrant in. Well that, and they get ObSec which is pretty cool on a big stompy like that, even if she does have a target on her head.

Oh and if the tervigon is a troops choice you can use Hive Commander to outflank it. I've definitely heard of people liking the fact that they can put a gribbly-spawning big stompy in someones backfield as a big distraction

Question what's obsec

Obsec means your troops can secure an objective even if an enemy scoring unit is beside it.
Unless the enemy unit also has obsec. Then they cancel out.

Well, there are several...You can take the Tervigon as Objective Secured, depending on the Formation (standard CAD, Battle Forged), you can also Outflank it, if you have Hive Commander (a personal fav. ) And perhaps most of all, you can take an additional Winged Tyrant with your precious HQ slot.

In many ways the current meta for Nids is simply finding as many ways to take Winged Dakka'rants as possible.

The will of the hive is always the same: HUNGER
