Subject: Modelling a Combat Familiar?
|
 |
Ancient Space Wolves Venerable Dreadnought
I... actually don't know. Help?
|
I want to put a Combat Familiar on my Biker Lord, but I unfortunately haven't got the model. Any other ideas? I've been thinking about taking the Tzeentch Champion head from the Tac box (chaos) and using some GS, but it'll probably not work.

Any kind of small, spikey, tentacley or pointy thing will do. With Chaos, anything remotely dangerous-looking goes.

Well, if you have never sculpted something before here are a few pointers:
Sculpt with support: build a framework, out of wire or some green stuff and let it dry. trying to sculpt on something that keeps moving away from you is frustrating. Profesional sculpters build it up in layers.
Let it dry. Once you get something like you like it let it dry before moving on so you don't mess it up accidently with your fingers while working on another part. heating the model GENTLY with a light or whatnot can speed up the process.
Don't get locked into an idea. I was making a cyber fimiliar for a project of mine, I was wanting a dog, but it looked so ratlike I decided to go with that. I think the cyber giang rat really adds to it now.
have fun and take your time it should work out fine.

There's a lot of good little options from fantasy kits. Scarabs are good for tzeentch, spiders and scorpions from something else and the little fairy from wood elf dryads. Use as-is or gussy up with tentacles, spikes, whatever. You can pick them all up cheap on ebay from bits sellers.

I wanted a combat familiar for my warsmith Honsou. After reading the books again I decided on the newborn, so he's now accompanied everywhere by an un armed ugly as hell space marine
