How does competitive can you get without breaking theme?

At 1200pts you cant do double hellcannon mate. Seeing as its a slow moving daemon list (within reason), I see two options, either take fast moving units to support them or take a block to support them (block of plague bearers and say warriors moving up will be hard to shift!). Sadly as warriors you cant do the third option which would be a shooty army.

I'm surprised you don't have more Nurgle things to stack with Epididymis - that's a thing in Fantasy, right? Or am I just assuming the 40k synergy exists in Ye Olde Worlde?

Also, you know the palanquin is a 50mm base, right? So has to awkwardly ride the side of his troll unit. And he's not the same unit type as them, making him the juiciest target on the table for artillery (though you've given him loads of defense against just such a thing, so not unanticipated!)

What's your total magic like? Is it really just 1 level on the GUO? And whatever Epi's got?

I'd probably take more warriors - the ubiquitous halberd deathstar with Festus and/or BSB - and maybe stuff to support your beatstick units (Nurgle chariots for example). Throgg can still stomp the yard with some trollses, but I'd cash in the other trolls and the illegal second hellcannon.

I ... think I'd rather the gleaming pennant maybe? To avert disaster in a list without a BSB (T-rogg's got the beasties covered though). No idea what happens with the extra 10 points, unless you can scrap up some more puppy points or something.
