**Awaken Realms**

Hello there from the magma-blasted Nocturne!

Today we present to you the Horus Heresy Salamanders force led by the Primarch Vulkan himself, readying his Legion to depart for the Isstvan V! For some time to every big army we are commissioned to paint we’re doing a diorama for a centerpiece-model of the army. For this project, we’ve created a diorama for Vulkan, depicting himself taming a ferocious Salamander swimming into the Nocturne’s rivers of fire!

We have painted this army at High and Top (particularly the Primarch and his diorama) qualities. It was a really fun project, we find the green and fiery colours to be really contrasting and well suiting each other. And painting coal-black skin was quite a rare opportunity as well.

Up close the white edge highlighting could be worked into a little better blended towards to reduce the awkward sharpness but at a distance it does exactly what its supposed to.

Sick diorama though, love it.

I just cant take airbrushed miniatures seriously, just seems like cheating to me. They can look nice but i just loose respect for them.

Vulkan is the most metal model I've seen recently! Very, very cool! But yeah, the rest of the army is just as fantastic!

I think the paint scheme is a bit to bright for my personal taste but great job.

Really like the work done on the Cerastus Knight. Love the mantle cowl covering the lower face plate. Overall gorgeous paint jobs, awesome diorama!

I really love this, the colours are rich, the linework is excellent, well done! My only complaint is the cowl on the Acheron, as it looks almost Nurgle-esque in the sense that there's a random piece of skin covering part of it. I think if that scale/dragonskin motif had been continued elsewhere on the model, it would look more uniform.

In Cocaco's defense, there are a lot of commission painters and companies out there that use an airbrush almost exclusively, and it really shows when they don't bother going back and filling in details, but instead insist on using solely airbrushing. For example, on the lava on the bases, you can see that it was just airbrushed lightly brighter and brighter, and it's not very uniform in coming up to the rocks. That being said, these are great models, great painting, and like TCWarRoom said, it's not like you can just pick up an airbrush and immediately be a master with it. It makes certain tasks easier and opens up more options, but it's not the instant masterpiece maker that some people seem to think it is.

**Sammoth**

Great work but, the inconsistency of the flames on several models shows. IMO some of the lava bases are lazily done. And some of the flames looks like blobs of red. Vulkan & the Dreadnaught are my favorites of the bunch.
