Subject: Formation allies?

OK so, this may have a simple answer of "no" but I haven't noticed the clause against it so I thought I would ask...
A formation can be taken in a battleforged army, no problems there, thats all standard.
Multiple formations can also be taken, so for Orks you could take Mogroks Bossboys and Ghazkhulls Bullyboyz as your whole army (low points list I know but its just an example), and it even has a warlord as Mogrok is automatically the warlord of a list.
So battleforged does not require any CAD's? As long as the formations fill out the legal requirement of a warlord...?
So here's the next question... If you are introducing allies into your army, does it need to be a CAD of allies?
Or, for example, if you field a normal CAD of space marines, could you then ally in Ghazkhulls Bullyboyz as your allies? (Just an example, not necessarily a good idea lol).
Hope this makes sense haha.

You can take any number of Detachments and Formations in any combination, and any of those may be drawn from any Faction.
Don't think of it in terms of "allying in", think of it in terms of taking XYZ Detachments and then deciding which would be your Primary.

So it would be possible to ally in certain units, without paying HQ and Troops "taxes", as long as there is an appropriate formation for it...
Hmm.
Though I know tournies tend to limit things to 1 ally 1 formation etc so that makes sense.
Thanks for the reply

A Battle-Forged army can have any number of Detachments.
That means you can take both 'regular' Detachments and Formations.
Tournaments often have house-rules and GW is either making these new rules to mess with BS-authors or with TO's.
Both are getting headaches, but both need to learn to deal with the changes.

aslong as the ally detachment is not you primary detachment then you are ok. for example i have been taking the sanguinary wing formation and and ally detachment of Imperial First as
long as my Primary detachment is the Formation then it is legal.

To clarify, this only applies to the specific "Allied Detachment" from the rulebook. It does not apply to a detachment that happens to be an ally, unless that detachment has a Restriction that prevents it.
