Hello! First things first I do apologize if this is in the wrong area (first post and all so)
But onto my question. I own a Forgeworld Konrad Cruze model and I have been trying to pick out the paints and process I would need to paint him (by hand mind you, I do not have an airbrush) and I wanted input into my current color choices as well as advice on other paints and on the process I should take while painting him.
I have decided to use Vallejo model color dark blue for the lit (side of the model that would be lit by sun ect) side of his armor, weathered slightly with Citadel drakenhof nightshade. The unlit portion will be using a darker blue I have yet to choose, thought it may be kantor blue, again weathered by drakenhof nightshade.
Unfortunately that's all I have well and truly decided on, and as I'm not the most competent painter I am having trouble deciding on any other paints for worry of messing up the models painting.
So yea.. Any advice that can be given would be wonderful.
I do thank you guys in advance for the replies.

congratulations on choosing a sweet model! colour wise i used kantor blue, highlighted with teclis blue and temple guard blue. i personally wouldnt paint the model in 2 solid halves as this will look very odd, especially if you dont have an airbrush! my advice would be to use your dark colour as a base, and work up through your lighter colour to highlight with a final brighter blue on specific areas, like the knee pads and shields etc.. you will want to spend lots of time on this dude as hes expensive and an awesome display piece. as you can see i used a dark red for his cloak, and you'll need flesh tones for his loincloth and outer cape. for the trim i used warplock bronze and runelord brass.

How did you get that stonework effect? I can see high lights and washs but that weathering looks so real.

My recipe for the stone was as follows. Prime grey. I then used an airbrush to put down dark and light grey patches but
You could probably skip that step. I they sprayed a thin layer of grey mixed with ushabti bone, followed by a thin layer of pure bone. After this i used orange, blue and yellow glazes, and a brown wash. I then drubrushed grey, then a grey white. Finally, stipple and feather lustrian undergrowth for the moss. Kinda convoluted i know, but i wanted this guy to look good. Like i said i did use airbrush, but with a little patience the same technique would work with a hairy brush

blimey that's complex, written it down though, never know when you need to know how to do something.

haha yeah..i spent ages looking at pictures of old churches trying to decide how to do the wear and the colours. my bases are usually just grey with a black wash and the double drybrush, but i wanted this guy to stand out so went for a warmer coloured stone, but still having that worn gothic look.

You can also play around with grey with a brown wash as that warms it up a bit and changes the color nicely.
