Hi Guys. First post here - been reading up a lot, but never got round to making an account....

I'm looking for some feedback on the list I ran last night in our local stores Escalation league - I got utterly trounced, and not sure if it was down to my poor play, or poor list (probably both to be honest)

I've been playing again for about a month now, before that, it was 2nd edition.

I was up against Fast Advance Grey Knights (tournament list) and Orcs in Tanks - did ok against these until they grounded the Tyrant...

The 750 list I ran was as follows;

1 x Flyrant - Wings, Regen, 2x Twin Linked Devourers
2 x Zoanthropes
1 x Neurothrope
30 x Termingants - Fleshborers
1 x Tervigon - Stinger Salvo

I was going to run a Tyranoccyte, but had an incident with it and the floor just before the game, so swapped in the Neurothrope

We're going to be running 1000 next week, and could do with some pointers as to what should be switched out, or improved.

I have available;

4 x Carnifex (magentised arms so can use any weapons)
10 x Gargoyles
40 x Hormogaunts
1 x Tyranocyte
3 x Warriors
8 x Genestealers plus a Brood Lord
The Tervigon can be used as a Tyranofex - again, magnetised

Well, some basic things for starters...put Thorax Hives on the Tyrant, and the Tervigon/Tyranofex. Use Electro Grubs, it is too dang useful not to have.

Secondly getting some Shrouding (Venothrope, or Malanthrope) is a priority, and this becomes greater, as the points increase. I really like Tyrannofex, Acid Spray, and Thorax Hive. I normally add Adrenal as well. The lower the point size, the bigger the impact.

Tervigon is hardly a bad choice, but you tied up a lot of points into a x30 Brood of Termagants, you could run it as a HQ choice, until you obtain a second Tyrant.

That frees you up to split the Termagants into several smaller units, and or use some Broods of Hormagaunts to Screen the Big Bug. I don't know just how useful a Neuro is...I would likely just split my Zoeys into multiple Broods until you can fill the slots with Shrouding, so I get more WC, and extra rolls on Powers of the Hive Mind!

If you want to keep a "Troops" Tervigon, then I suggest you purchase Hive Commander for your Warlord, so you can Outflank her.

Tyranids are a hard army to get to know, so it will get easier. Just remember to find Synergy between units, Nids are all about Synergy.
