The Japanese ones worked very well. During the Invason of Okinawa, many women and their daughters took their lives (or will killed by their young sons) because they were convinced American soldiers were going to rape and pillage them. The Japanese populace was convinced to fight to the death because the government effectively got them to believe that the US would kill them all anyway.

These are actually quite simple and to the point, and play on what were probably very real fears for Australian soldiers. Some WW2 vets I met in Australia were still bitter about it, and there's a whole section in at least one Australian history text book about all the Americans stealing Australian women.

They did spend quite a lot of time and effort on the Australians it seems.
