Fast question; my 7th book is out of reach for a bit, and a question came up.

Let's say Unit A and Unit B are already locked in combat. Unit A's owner decides to charge Unit C into combat, getting into B2B with Unit B. Can Unit B engage Unit C on it's initiative turn, or must it stay locked with Unit A until the next turn?

You're still locked in combat with both unit A and C, but you're free to designate which unit B attacks. Either A, C, or a combination of the two, I believe.

Models in unit B that are "engaged" (in B2B or within 2" of a friendly model which is) with both A and C can choose to attack either unit, and indeed can split it's attacks between the two if it has more than 1 attack. Models in B which are only engaged with one unit must Attack that unit. (Multiple Combats - Directing Attacks, the last few pages of the Assault Phase rules, no page number sorry, Digi-edition).
