Another day, another Kickstarter. Nobody else posted this one, so I may as well.
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2139148164/going-native-new-world-monsters/description
For those of you who need some more unique, exotic, and/ or culturally significant monsters on your tabletop, this one is for you.
Some interesting critters from around the world.
And the stretch goals bring some fun stuff as well. Basket lady will include a fleeing child as well!
This one is going to be included for free for the higher pledges.
Small companies like that always need support, especially those that try and do something besides them same old safe designs. Check it out!

The "Basket woman" name is a Dzunukwa amongst the kwakwaka'wakw.
Also, common among coastal first nations legends is the two-headed sea serpent. Might be a neat sculpt!

Exactly. Was just what I was going to say. Right on the tip of my tongue
In all seriousness though, it's getting that kind of knowledge kicked around which makes me love supporting these types of companies.
Gets me off my duff to go want to learn something new, which is impressive, because we aren't going to mention how many of the monsters they've shown artwork for at one point or another I've read about at some point growing up.
Oh, the books I used to read as a kid... they were like Monster Manuals, except without stats and based on actual myths and legends. Though I did own a fair amount of monster manuals from various game systems that I never played, just to ogle artwork and read about weird creatures.

Some amazing models in there. I got to Ahklut and thought "that can't be a real thing", but it certainly was. Fascinating. Definitely makes me wish I knew more about the mythology of local tribes.

The Hawaiian warriors from their previous KS were pretty cool, and definitely not the sort of figures you normally see. I wonder if they'll show up in this one?
If I had the money, i'd probably go for that Skinwalker.

I am working on the warrior models and I will get them out as soon as I can. I have a few more warrior kits to make before I put them out. Since the monsters were more popular then the warriors (not by much) I chose to focus on the monsters for the moment.
The Two-headed Sea Serpent (it has three heads to tell the truth) is not on the list yet. I will get to it down the road. I have a list of mythical creatures from nightmare monsters to fantastic guardians and fairy folk.

I know if those Amorak packs become available, Barzam will have to pledge- the guy can't resist canines!
(Plus I hear he's building an all canidae army in the future, and those would be perfect.as heroes/ leaders/ some special unit)
Those Hawaiians might be the perfect gateway drug to drag our father down to 28mm too. Guy loves collecting 1/32 figures of various indigenous peoples to paint... we've been searching for the right catalyst and we might have finally found it!

Is the Amorak the wolf wearing the mask armor? If so.. yeah. I'd so back this for those. Money's still an issue though. But good God man, a pack of those guys leading a team of Argus hounds and Wargs would be glorious. And maybe it's just me, but the art of the Amorak reminds me a lot of Amaterasu from Okami, so I like it even more.

Hey, Paymaster Games, if you're still here I just wanted to ask if there's any chance of a male Turok-style figure appearing. The "monster hunter" figure looks as if you're doing a female homage to that old comic book hero, but I wouldn't mind seeing something closer to the real thing. The classic version, or even the more modern take with the Tek-Bow would be great to see.
If you have no intention of doing anything like a male not-Turok, rest assured, I'm probably the only person alive who's interested anyway.
I don't have any idea what the market for miniatures based on Native myths / legends / religions is, but hats off to you for trying, and for holding your artists and sculptors to a remarkably high standard. I may have to back this for an Uktena serpent at least, and just on principle for you having the guts to put this material out there.
I've read a fair number of Native myths and legends, and I've worked with Native people, but I haven't really heard many supernatural tales of monsters from them, except in passing. Once a Dene (not the Navajo Dineh, but rather their northern cousins) friend of mine said he'd actually seen a shapeshifter while he was out hunting moose in the boreal forests of Alberta. He said it was frightening, but didn't seem to want to talk much more about it beyond that. Oh, and there's a legend of a giant fish that lived in a lake up there that died after it swallowed a deer whole. Apparently some Dene elders used to tell stories about playing with its vertebrae (the size of dinner plates, they said) as kids.

Vermonter - Their was a Not- Turok planned for the first KS campaign but the art did not measure up to the high quality I require for my models. So I was forced to scrap it. If you know a talented artist I am open to a Son of Stone and sidekick model kit. I may even be able to fit it in this KS campaign if I get the image soon enough.
Barzam - a Coyote creature was planned, but was put on the back burner in favor of named monsters. The Coyote, along with Raven, Apache Spider-Woman, and other creatures/gods/demons will be in the second Going Native source book. Right now we have over 120 monsters in the current source book, so I felt that certain ones could wait. And yes the Amorak are wearing mask armor.
Boss Salvage - Here are more photos of the Capelobo to make you feel better about ordering it -

Thanks for joining us here Paymaster!
While we've got you round these parts, how large do you expect some of these new kits like Xiucoatl and the Basket Lady to be? 50mm bases?
I'm also curious just how tall that Uktena is. I'm guessing around 40- 50mm perhaps?
I may have to get a Capelobo after seeing those photos to hang out with my Darklands sloth men.

There is a size chart near the top of the campaign page. But to answer your question, Capelobo, Basket Woman and the Xiucoatl will be on a 40mm base.
I hope this answers question about the Great Horned Serpent.

Cheers for the extra pics of Cappy, I'm still a fan of the dude Will there be a way to add money in between the pledge levels? For instance, Uktena is $25 but Cappy is $10, which puts them just outside of the $30 bracket together. (Saying this, I realize that I'm already going $50+ to pick up Xiucoatl when he arrives ) - Salvage

The middle head of the Sisiutl is actually only depicted in art, as a metaphor for the dual nature of man, either good or evil. Also, for the fact that you are never to look at either one of the heads if you encounter one, you're supposed to look in the middle and not show fear, if you do, you turn to stone.. None of the legends that I've heard or have read, have a face in the middle when the warrior slays it I'll ask some of the elders and storykeepers out here though.

Happy to see Xuicoatl unlocked and we are on track to get those Skin Walkers in the next few days.
What would you consider "official" colors for the Fire Serpent?
My first thought is lots of blues and turquoise. Maybe some bright red feathers in the mix as well.
I think it's time for me to start a rainbow serpent warband...
