Hey everyone. I wanted to see how you Slaanesh players run/use icon of excess. Personally, I have used it only on large biker squads that usually include my lord. (8 or more models)

I can never justify its points in a noise marine squad. Especially since I run MSU in rhinos with blastmasters.

Its quite expensive for what it is. And can be smiled out by a crafty foe.

Bikes are a good call. Never for msu.

I would consider it for a marine power blob (also handy that it affects joined characters, maybe handy for a sorceror)

For example, 20 marines enhanced by fabius with the icon.
Throw in an archdeacon of slaanesh for fleet, or load into a Spartan.

My friend uses them on Raptors to decent effect. Pseudo Death Company.

When I run noise marines, I usually run several MSU with only a blastmaster. Then, I run one large squad of 15-18 with sonic blasters. I usually give them the Icon as it doesn't take very long to earn its points back.

Generally only when I have a blob of noise marines. The points cost is too heavy for a small unit. That being said, rarely.

large blobs utilise it to full potential.

Huron to infiltrate a 20 strong squad with someone like Cypher.

Or escape hatch to throw them with someone like Abaddon.

Using it to buff HQ choices with FnP is cool. Abaddon with FnP? Yes please!

Abaddon in a Spartan Assault Tank accompanied by 20 CSM of Slanesh with Icon of Excess, Fabius to buff the CSM. Welcome to hell.

I've been considering modeling the Icon bearer as a Chaos Apothecary for some time now.... I'm surprised I haven't seen it done yet.

Hahaha, I like that idea alot. It makes perfect sense.

A great idea. Mine is a "banner" with liquid tanks dispensing health giving narcotics.

I have been looking at using the Icon with my Plasma Armed Squads, especially Havocs.

I use it as the thread starter, in a bike squad and usually with my HQ attached.

My go to unit with my Emperor's Children army, 9 bikers, MoS, VoLW, IoE, Power Sword, 2 Melta ride with my Chaos Lord, LC and PF and a level 3 Psyker, no mark.

Such a heavy unit, they can take a lot of punishment, especially if there isn't any barrage to snipe out the IoE.

Get inivisibility and oh boy.....

Like others have said, the IoE is great on Slaneesh bikers with an embedded Lord. You need S10 to negate the FNP roll.
