I keep seeing people on here posting army lists where they have 10 tactical marines inside a razorback am I an idiot or am I right in thinking that for about the past 10 years you can only put 6 models inside a razorback?

Razorbacks are only 6 yeah. You sure they didn't put/mean Rhinos?

They will be combat squadding and putting 5 inside most likely.

Or potentially walking beside the razorback and just using it like a heavy weapon guy.

according to the rules, you can but a 10 man in a razorback if they are combat squadded. I dont know why it is like that, but you can. also, they don t need to really be IN the razorback as well, so behind works too. what I did/do for sternguard

I'll never be able to repay CA for making GW realize that The Old World was a cash cow, left to die in a field.

No, you can fit 5 in, half the original squad. Not both combat squads. Surely?

Don't call him "Shirley"

...well, alright. So Rhino can fit 10 models, but no Bulky units or "larger" units. Razorback is 6 models. But it certainly cannot fit a 10-model, whether or not the squad is splitted (I mean there are still 10 models total). I feel sorry for whoever had to deal with Brennonjw's "melee package" tho.

Why would someone run Razorbacks? It's a "cheap" way to get an additional, mobile heavy weapon in a squad. Typically when I do it, I have a 10 man Tac Squad, that's been combat squaded, a Sgt kited out for CC, a flamer, and a Lascannon or ML. The Sgt, Flamer, and 3 other guys jump in the Rhino and off they go to take an Objective. Meanwhile, the other five guys hopefully camp on a home objective and provide fire support.

What Tamwulf said.

You could do it with devastators as well. Leave the heavy weapon guys in your deployment and send the bolter guys off in the razorback.

Combat squads would likely be the rationale:

Combat squads didn't exist in 3rd and 4th edition, and Razorbacks could only be taken by squads of 6 men or less.

The squad size restriction was lifted in 5th edition when combat squads were reintroduced.

Although in fact, the original fluff from when the Razorback was introduced in 2nd edition was that it was primarily a fire support vehicle not a transport: "..once the Razorback is in cover the Rhinos can deploy their Space Marines into cover. Then the Rhinos withdraw whilst the Razorback remains to provide vital heavy weapon support.."

Lol that would suggest they are expecting to leave a 40% casualty rate behind...

that or they expect to win and thus not need further transport.

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two
