As far as Space Marines are concerned the majority of their HQ's are CC oriented. But are any of them considered good support units to keep in the back lines as support? I was thinking Librarian or MotF with a Primarch's Wrath relic. Just throwing it out there.

MotF on a bike with conversion beamer can work. Tiggy with divination to babysit some devs.

Yep, MotF with bike is handy, shifting around and keeping all vehicles running. Backfield librarian is also decent with the right powers.
Captain/CM/Chaplain are much more CC oriented, chaplain in particular has no place in a backfield as far as I am concerned. Captain/CM can be somewhat useful to provide some extra shooting depending on choice of weapon, and as a protector of something juicy in your backline, but ultimately they're better off pushing forward.

This, but change dev babysitting for Devastator Centurions (ignores cover and twin linked is pretty crazy on these guys).

OK, here's my build:
Master of the Forge
Servo Harness (comes standard)
Bike
Primarch's Wrath
130 points
I can use him to reinforce Ruins for snipers or devs. The bike gives him the range to keep up with and repair tanks and the Primarch's Wrath is really the sweetest ranged weapon you can give an HQ and the bike gives him full advantage of the salvo rule. And of course, no servitors because they can't keep up with the bike and are useless on their own.

I am not a big SM player. Grey Knights, but they don't have a lot of the same vehicles or anything. Still, from what I can gather, it seems like you're almost better off allying in a long-range HQ from another Imperial codex. Pask squadron and a few veterans in chimeras. Or an Inquisitor can babysit some devs for under 100pts. Use your PA/Iron Halo guys where they're going to be coming under more fire.
