Alright so a guy is offering to let me borrow dwarfs for the next mordehiem campaign but the problem is I don't really know how I should play them. Should I do low model count with light armor/shield? or should I go with two weapons and helmets across the board. the campaign is severely limiting shooting so I don't think thats the way to go.

I personally think going 2 swords, a shield and helmet are the best way to go early on.

Max out heroes and then make sure you have the bodies with the rest of the cash.

2 swords gives you +1 attack and +1 parry, helmet helps against stunned, heroes find gold and numbers will win the game.

Then you can focus on armoring up your men once you have a foothold.

Take two Crossbowmen with crossbows. Their shooting will come in handy at times.
Pistols for your heroes is a must. Your engineer will tune them up, and when you get some shooting skills, watch out.

Trade armor for Crossbows for sure. They're hard to kill and have hard heads already.

Err uhh sorry. Trading helmets for Dwarf axes would be good too.

I forgot to ask but which kit is the best for dwarfs, anyways?

and I usually take two crossbows with marienburg but the GM is doing eveything so ranged is not effective (like weather and darkness and stuff)

Get max heroes, crossbows and dwarf axe's with mace's. as for what to use kit wise the thunderers boxed set would be good as you get most of the stuff you would want to use and just need slayers.

my dwarf force was made from spares after building my dwarf army. so are a mix of thunderer's and warrior box set's. but 16 warriors and 16 thunderer's seems to much and the thunderer's come with some melee options so i figure there the better box set.

Alright so I put a list together that I think may work, but would like feedback none-the-less.

Nobel (x2 dwarf axes, helmet)-125pts
engineer: (free dagger, pistol)-65pts
Troll Slayer ( x2 dwarf axes)-80pts
Troll Slayer (x2 dwarf axes)-80pts

Clansmen group (x3 dwarfs, Axe, Mace)-144pts

so they all move and fight as one, and hopefully F up some guys. thoughts?

Some Gromril armor for your lord will never be cheaper than your initial list.
As soon as you can afford it, get helmets for everyone. The helmet rules + dwarf hard headedness will keep them living longer.
Pistols.
