Participating in a doubles tourney in a few weeks, 1250 a player, no LoW or super heavies. I play orks, and my teammate plays guard. Our plan is to smash like a hammer as best we can, and push our opponents back. I live in Alaska, so while we have a fair amount of players, the meta doesn’t totally dominate our local scene.

Ork List:

Big Mek on Warbike with KFF and Bosspole
Deffkopta x 3

Big Mek with MA, Tellyport Blasta, Bosspole, Ammo Runt
Tankbustas x 7
Battlewagon with Ram and Rokkit

Zhadsnark da rippa
Warbikers x 6, Nob with Bosspole and Power klaw

Warboss with MegaArmor, Lucky Stikk, Bosspole
Boys x18, Nob with Klaw
Battlewagon with Ram and Rokkit
Total:1239

Guard:
Company command squad, master of ordinance
Chimera

Veterans x10 Plasma x3, Vox, Carapace
Taurox

Vets x 10 Plasma x 3, Vox, Carapace
Taurox

Vets x 10 Melta x3, vox, carapace
Taurox

Executioner x 2

Vanquisher

Plus maybe a wyvern.

Admittedly, I don’t know exactly point for point what his list is, but I know itll look almost exactly like this, with a few upgrades here and there.

Basically, I have a diverse tough list, with lots of saves scattered around. My KFF is to just keep vehicles to survive past turn 1, after that its all extra credit. The tankbustas and MA mek are to look scary, with the Mek either absorbing shots at him or LOS ap2 and insta death onto the bustas. Zhadsnark is for hunting MCs, as his at-initiative powerklaw and T6 make him actually act just like one, with the benefit of him having extra bikers to funnel wounds into when he needs. Warboss with MA is to Lucky Stikk reroll his 2+, LoS anything that’s ap2. My role is to bring nasty units our opponents cant ignore(since almost all of the have PKs and other nasty tricks) so that his vets can chew up things at a range. He usually plays more artillery heavy/back board, but I coaxed him into trying new things.

Thoughts?

I think your plan is going to be a bit flawed because your counting on his vets getting close enough to even use their weapons. If they are close enough to fire a 24inch weapon they are close enough to get crushed in return. The one thing Orks lack a lot of is ordinance and ranged anti tank ability. You should focus on orky strong points while maximizing IG strong points. Conversely you should ignore me completely and stick with a rush army. Just keep in mind your playing two armies famous for high model count and neither one of you is using many models

I'm not sure of his exact upgrade setup, but we looked at that. One the one hand we are running low on models, not gonna lie it makes me uneasy. On the other side, my units are all kinda nasty, and are most dangerous in melee. Our plan is to force opponents into dealing with my guys first because nobody wants PKS in their face. His Taurox units are fast vehicles, blitzing him right behind. My units have a decent mix of weaponry, including the Tellyport Blasta and Deffkoptas with twin linked rokkits. His orders can be used to make any vet squad good at shooting things to bits. I'm a mite worried about AV14, but I don't think there'll be lots of it. The KFF helps his units too, meaning that those Russ tanks won't be just ganged by melta stuff. We plan on testing it tomorrow, and I'll post notes and results too.

Double check that KFF thing my friend. If your playing the allied rules then his IG can't come within 6 inches of your unit or they cant move shoot run or assault that turn. and KFF is only good for 6 inch radius.

KFF is "All models within 6" of a model with a kustom force field receive a 5++ against shooting attacks".

Oh, i understand. For the tourney, since it's doubles, every army is "Allies of Convenience". Usually how these things go.

again still not sure if he can benefit from the KFF. "Are not counted as being friendly units for the targeting of psychic powers, ABILITIES, and so on."

Im honestly not 100% on that, I have never used or been part of an alliance of convenience.

Ah, yeah. No, it specifies ALL models, not just friendly.

yes the KFF does say all models, but the allies of convenience says you can't gain benefits from each other. I dont know thats a tough one, i'll post it in the rules section and see what the rule experts come up with

Okay. Interesting to find out the actual answer. As a heads up, my local game allows it without argument, but that's a smaller demographic than most other places. Link to thread?
