I have some Thallax coming in, and a couple of models to repair and assemble laying around. So I decided it's about time to start playtesting lists to find what I want to do. I should have a match scheduled this Sunday, after an Apocalypse game. So we'll see.

HQ:
Archmagos Prime - Malagra, Abeyant, Machinator Array, Cyber Familiar, Augery Scanner
Master Crafed Paragon Blade, Phased Plasma Fusil, Rad Grenades, Chainfist
-300

Troops:
6 Thallax - 2 Phased Plasma Fusils
6 Thallax - 2 Phased Plasma Fusils
-550

HS:
Land Raider - TL-Heavy Bolter, 2 Quad Heavy Bolters - Auxiliary Drive, Armoured Ceramite
-230

LoW:
Questoris Knight Magaera - Hekaton Siege Claw w/ TL-rad cleasner
-420

Total: 1500

I know it's a bit small. Normally I'd probably start putting in some thralls, but I haven't decided on conversions for them yet.

I am planning on just tossing the Archmagos in the Land Raider to roam around harassing everything, and having him jump whatever enemy unit I don't like.

Other than that, it'll be pretty straightforward as I don't have too much to work with, but it should be enough to at least annoy my opponent.

The first thing I notice about the list is you have basically no anti-tank outside of melee. The Mechanicum has access to some very solid anti-tank units for not much expense. Consider arming a Thallax squad with meltas instead, maybe even breaking it into two three-man teams. Alternatively, take some anti-tank options on your Land Raider, remember you have PotMC

The Hekaton Siege Claw just isn't worth it in my opinion unless you face a lot of buildings regularly

Fair enough. Do you think a Knight Errant would be a better fit with this sort of list then?

With the points saved for an errant, and dropping Augery Scanner, I could afford to give the Thallax squads Tank Hunter. That should increase the anti armour threat a fair amount.

that land raider needs a different loadout - a single hull lascannon and a flare sheild are all you really need unless you are facing the melta rule at any point.

also, give the magos the second paragon blade so he gets an extra attack as its a specialist weapon.

those points aside, its going to be a good looking army - funny, looks almost EXACTLY LIKE MY TAGHMATA LIST!!!!

an incredibly mean unit for tank hunting is a unit of myrmidon secutors with nothing but graviton guns. it takes some pretty special scatter to miss a vehicle and 6 haywire rolls will have most vehicles for 210 points all in.
put in a triaros and combine with cyber-occularis and djinn skein for maximum rage.

On the melee weapons, the chainfist is a specialist weapon so he should still get the bonus attack for fighting with two specialist weapons.

I'll start looking into options for the Raider, but I do want to play with this Prometheus pattern once or twice to see if I like it.

so youre playing sixth edition right? in 7th they stopped all the fun - you have to choose which one you use so you cant stack rules together and the specialist weapon rule now says it has to be another of the same weapon to gain the +1 attack. boooo!
