Venoms and Raiders are two similar-yet-different beasts. Both cost the same stock, both are fast as all hell, and both serve the purpose of getting your troops around. Since you're just starting out, don't worry too much about buying Venoms over Raiders and vice-versa - You'll likely end up running at least a one or two of each.
The advantage of Venoms is that they're small (easy to park in cover), have a Flickerfield invulnerable save stock, and can mount two Splinter Cannons for a truly ridiculous amount of anti-infantry from a tiny little carriage. They're great for transporting a small unit of Incubi, your HQ and retinue, or 5 Kabalite Trueborn with four Blasters, which is a killer little deathsquad.
Raiders on the other hand, can mount Dark Lances on the prow, making them a solid AT-without being dedicated AT units. They carry twice the models that a Venom can, making them better for large groups of Kabalites or a Grotesque squad. They also have an extra HP.
Take those as you will, they're each good in their own right. Like I said, since you're just starting, don't worry too much about prioritizing Raiders over Venoms or vice-versa. Just pick whichever feels best to you.
Also, while katfude is right, Wyches are not very competitive, that just means you don't want to run them PRIMARILY. They're still damn good at doing what they do best - tarpitting heavy units, mulching conscripts, and serving as a delivery vector for a CC HQ. And despite not being top-tier, they're definitely not that bad. If you roll Adrenalight, your Wyches will be doing 4 attacks each on the charge, at Strength 4 once you get Furious Charge from PFP. Five attacks each if the game drags on until you get Rage from PFP. On a related note, even if Wyches were completely useless, the rest of the stuff in that Shardstorm box is great. Reavers are an awesome CC/Tank busting unit, a Succubus is a fun HQ to run, and like I said before, you can always use a Raider. You'll probably want at least one unit of Wyches eventually, so I'd spring for it.
Lastly, based on what you have right now, here's the next purchases I'd recommend (assuming you got the Shardstorm box):
- Ravager/Razorwing/Voidraven - you'll want the dakka and the Razorwing in particular is great at dealing with horde armies since you can fire all four missiles on the turn you come in. Ravagers eat tanks for breakfast, just make sure you keep them in cover lest you have to jink.
- More transports - Even if you get the Shardstorm box, that only leaves you with one Raider and one Venom. You'll probably want another Raider and a couple more Venoms for good measure.
- More troops - In this case, probably Kabalites. If you're a Coven fan, Wracks are troop choices in the supplement, so you can always go down that road.
After that, it;s really up to you. There are very few units aside from Bloodbrides, that don't have a good use in the new Dark Eldar codex. I generally prefer Reavers over Hellions, but you can still run them if they tickle your fancy, and lots of people have had great luck with them. Just build up your core with transports, troop choices, and a few heavy hitters (not that everything DE doesn't hit heavy) and you'll be left with a great TAC list that you can season and tweak with whatever units really grab you.
Hope that helps!
