Hello Everyone,

I am starting 40k (again) and I went for CSM Crimson Slaughter. Reason? I like the color sheme, the fluff behind them and I don't plan on playing tournement soon (maybe one day). I made a list that contain figures that I like and some more competitive stuff. The people I am gonna play against are not win at all cost. Maybe sometimes we will do tournement but between us, we will make some rules to avoid tailoring, unbound...

BUT, by avoiding tailoring, we will no be able to change our list as much as we want between games. Thats why I need to make a fairly balance list that can take any army!!

Here is the list:

-Chaos Lord 195pts
MoK, Blade of the Relentless, Bolt Pistol, Daemonheart, Juggernaut, Sigil of Corruption
I like this model and I read that he is competitive. But I also read the Blade maybe not worth it, I will try but I am ready to change for PF and LC if needed.

-CSM x10 220pts
Aspiring Champion, 2 Flamer, Boltgun and CCW
Rhino, Dirge Caster and Havoc
This unit is here to bring some threat, I will move them up the field, flamming and charging like crazy.

-Cultist x15 88pts
Champion, 13 Autoguns, 1 Heavy stubber
The plan with them is to stay in cover and shoot, maybe protect my back.

-Chaos Spawn x3 90
Lord escort, nothing else to say about them

-Fell Blade (IA3) 115
Two Helstorm Autocannons
This guy is my flier hunter, with 6 Twin-linked S7 Rending shot, I should be able to pop a flier or a tank a turn. Does anyone tryed him before? How does it go? On paper it sounds great. But again, I didn't play for ages!

-Maulerfiend 125
Magam Cutters
This guys will rush along with my lord and maybe my CSM. I like the model and even if he is not that competitive, I would like him to stay in the list.

This is normaly 833 points, I still have 167 points to play with and here are my thoughts:

- Terminators x3
With Melta or Plasma

-Another Maulerfiend

- Raptors with melta

- Another CSM

So, what are your thought about this list? I am a little bit scared to face Knight, Riptide.... because I don't know what to use to take care of them. At this moment, I have some threat for tank and mech but not big monstruose creature, and all the kind. How should I use my spare points, but keeping this middle field rush list?

Thanks for all the advice.

I like the second Maulerfiend as I find that 1 fiend dies rather quickly. I would also swap the flamers on the CSM for Plasma guns or meltas to give you a punch. For your worries on the riptide or knights it will be tough in that small of a list. Our local store doesn't allow any superheavy till 2000, so as for tactics 2 mauler fiends can pop a knight. they may not survive as i don't remember there Init. off hand. Getting the fiends upclose will null there shield.

Take a second fiend with lasher tendrils. Run them as a pair. The lashers reduce his attacks by 2. Gives the pair a huge chance of survival in combat as they're only initiative 3

Adding the Maulerfiend with Lasher tendrils, I still have 32 points left. I am thinking of a Spawn by itself. Could be usefull to take the overwatch over my Lord unit, or help the cultist sitting back. Or just to run to get line breaker....

Ditto on the second mailer with lashes. I prefer pfist lclaw to the sword. Also fond of the slaughterers horns for that S9 charge.

You need 5 spawn.

More spawn is definitely helpful for protecting that Lord. Loads of ablative high toughness wounds.

I changed the list a little with what you told (exept the flamer, and I am thinking on taking of the boltgun in the unit to make it CC) me and here is what I get.

-Chaos Lord 200pts
MoK, Blade of the Relentless, Bolt Pistol, Daemonheart, Juggernaut, Sigil of Corruption, Melta Bomb
I add a Melta Bomb to him just to make him able to hunt tank.

-CSM x10 223pts
Aspiring Champion Power Sword, 2 Flamer, Boltgun and CCW
Rhino, Dirge Caster
Here I took off the Havoc Luncher and give a power sword to the champion. They wll rush with the lord and I don't see the havoc luncher that usefull. Now, I am considering taking off the boltgun too. By doing that, I will have 18 points more to play with adding cultist or something

-Cultist x13 78pts
Champion, 11 Autoguns, 1 Heavy stubber
Took off 2 cultist for the points.

-Chaos Spawn x4 120
Add one spawn to protect my lord

-Hell Blade (IA3) 115
Two Helstorm Autocannons
Didn't change him.

-Maulerfiend 125
Magam Cutters

-Maulerfiend 135
Lasher Tendrils
They will work together!

The list together is 996 pts.

What do you think about this few change. The list is rush. The 2 Maulerfiend are their to hunt tank, Hellblade to hunt light tank, flyer... Cultist sit in the back. The only think that bother me is that I don't have any supporting fire!

Haha you dont get supporting fire in a chaos rush list.

List looks good. Still think you could trim some upgrades to get that extra spawn.

Sorry, I will change that right now.

Anyway, does the CCW and Boltgun aren't too much on the CSM squad?

Its what I prefer but not essential.
Flamers are a bit weird.. as they work in assault but can easily drop you out of assault range. They work best when disembarking and double tapping.. at the end of the day a handful of bolter shots won't me much difference whereas an extra 3 ablative wounds on a super lord might.

The boltguns on the CSM squads have been worth it almost every game to me. Especially as you cannot charge the turn you disembark from a Rhino (or any transport without the Assault vehicle rule), you might as well shoot for that turn! I wouldn't remove them, as you are already light on firepower.

The list looks good!

1000 Points. Last change fo the list. I took off the CCW on the CSM squade. I will use them has anti-horde. I can get Armored thing with the Maulers, Hellblade and the Lord. I used the points to get more cultist for my backfield.
