I only have a Company of regular infantry as FoW miniatures, which I got as payment for painting a friend's battalion of 1st Infantry Division from Normany (June '44).

But... My great Uncle served in the 100th Infantry in the South of France, and I wanted to do a complete battalion of the 100th (Thanks to my Uncle, I even have the names of every man to have served in the Division, and their units.... So I can personalize the minis a bit.... But that's beside the point).

I know what was in the Division, but wondered if they have anything published for the Aug. - Nov '44 invasions of Southern France?

I would like to do some additional troops for the same theatre.

There's currently nothing from Battlefront that focuses on Southern France. However, US divisions tended to have basically identical organization and equipment. So the generic infantry company list from the Normandy books will probably do the job.

Try the Citizen Soldiers PDF. BF hasn't done anything for Dragoon since there is nothing new there.

So... Given the absence of anything specific for the Southern Assault, it might behoove me to write something up?

Especially since the southern assault saw a greater number of bunker assaults than did the Normandy Landings and approach to Germany (which went to the North of the Maginot Line, which the Seventh Army Group had to go through BOTH the Maginot and Siegfried Lines at Bitche and Zwiebrücken.

The Century also fought one of the last major battles of WWII (although I cannot recall the specifics, but it was near or around Stuttgart).

Special rules might include Heroics for Bunker Assaults, given that at nearly every Bunker Assault by The Century, they saw one or two men individually attack a bunker to destroy it.

While this is true of many cases, the accounts of The Century in Europe make a point of accounting that the Century led the Allies in numbers of Bunker Assault and medals/awards for heroism for assaulting bunkers.

The Century was also among the first in Europe to encounter large numbers of Tigers (at least according to their accounts), and the 37mm AT tank crews became rather good shots at taking the treads off Tigers, considering the accounts told of AT gunners seeing their shells bounce off the Tigers (and this is my Uncle's direct account) "Like they were doing nothing more than throwing coke bottles at the Tigers."

He told me about the first shell he fired at one, and saying he saw the thing hit the forward part of the turret, and then bounce 100yards straight up, and fell back down into the mid behind it.

He thought since the shell was a Dud that he'd try again, only to have the shell do nothing more than out a burn mark on the turret.

They quickly shifted to targeting the treads after that (but ran away on that first encounter). After running away, they waited for artillery to come in, where they called in some long 155's to see if that would do anything. It scared the Tigers away, but they remained in Bitche until the Ardennes Offensive called them away.

So... Sounds like I need to buy the Citizen Soldiers and look at what might need to be added for the Century and other divisions down south.
