My friend is running the following list: ( I agreed to a competitive game)
Adlance formation
Paladin:375
Paladin: 375
Errant:370
Tyranid war veterans detachment:
Cassius:125
6 veterans 138
Stormtalon w' typhoon 155
Stormtalon w' Typhoon 155
Stormtalon w' skyhammer 155

I posted this on another forum and no one said anything about it.
I play space Marines. How should I try to beat it? I'm thinking drop pod sternguard with melts or LoTD with melts for the knights, and I got some flyers too.

It has 7 HQs, 2 Troop types with Dedicated Transports, 5 Elite units, 5 Fast Attack units, 6 Heavy Support units, 2 Formations with unique units not in the rest of the codex, and 2 LOW choices.

You will either have to avoid the AdLance formation or try to kill it... but you have to focus 100% one way or the other to win.

If you want to kill it, Vulkan for twin-linked LotD are perfect Knight, and so are Stormravens. I'd take something based on this:

3x LotD - melta, combi-melta, mm
2x Stormraven - MM, LC
Damocles Command Rhino - reserve manipulation and orbital bombardment
Tac Marines in pods and scouts

If you want to just avoid it, then I'd say try to steal turn 1 and force him to reserve the talons or loose them to your firepower (since they start in hover mode).

It's a super cheesy list and quite honestly sounds terrible to play against... good luck?

Multimeltas? Why? You should only ever put meltaguns on a unit like Sternguard, Heavy Weapons are a waste.
