You've probably heard that the DA codex is not very competitive. Take plenty of AP3 and you'll be fine.

But if he's a newbie maybe you should focus on something other than winning. Maybe make a list with common Special Rules so he can learn the game better. Or maybe challenge yourself by making an intentionally weak list and learn how to get the most out of your own units.

For an anti marine list you have surprisingly little AP3 or less in that list. Your commander is also only packing a single gun despite the fact he can fire 2 a turn, and thats alot of points currently sat in stims at a very low points lvl. Your commander is costing a tonne to do very little (sure he can pop maybe a marine a turn, when very close).

Soon his foes would learn that the only thing more dangerous than a savage three hundred pound brute is a savage three hundred pound brute with a plan - Ork Codex

I've saw him in a battle against another players necrons, he takes very little infantry. Maybe two combat squads and 10 assault marines and the rest is literally just dreadnaught for him. He has terminators, but I'm thinking the fusion blasters and ion blasters would take care of them. Should I also swap out the marker drones for pathfinders?

I mean...if you want you to completely slaughter this guy take a firebase support cadre. That would all but guarantee a victory.

If you want to be nice and play a "friendly" game then take something crazy like vespid stingwings or maybe pirrahnas?

I personally hate hammerheads, that one shot just has never done it for me. Skyrays are better and way way better against space marines.

I mean at least that way you can shoot inf without loosing out on your smart missles. So then you get a ap4 blast and the smart missles. I'd still rather have reliable marker lights and the alpha strike that the skyrays provide.

I'll change the drones for pathfinders then.

I much prefer the Broadside with missiles over the Hammerhead. Also I go almost all Pulse Rifles. I also agree you are spending way to many points on a commander not to do much. Could save a ton of points with just and Ethereal, giving all your fire warriors double the shots.

I don't like the ethereal. As a secondary HQ I think he's great but as a warlord he's not resilient enough.
