Im going to be running a 1k Highlander tourney here pretty soon. I have just a few questions for you gents (and ladies).

The first being turn times, at 1k what do you think is acceptable?
The second is, how do you guys deal with Squadrons, such as Leamun Russ squadrons? Or Carnifex broods. They are technically one slot choice, but seem rather OP in the Highlander Format.

Could i get a mod to bump this down into general in the 40k section? As i don't think i will be getting any input. Thank you very much!

My club ran a 1k point event a few months ago, and we had 2 hour rounds which were more than enough, but as far as I can recall, no one actually turned up with a horde army.

As for squadrons, that's your call, but I think it's common to allow them.

Our store plays 1850 with 2.25 hours.

Exponentially, 1k should require less time, maybe 75 to 90 minutes. Maybe set up for that and adjust as needed.

Also, you might want to decide and stick to, if you're going to have a hard 'dice down' call or an easier, 'Eh, let 'em have another 10 minutes. As long as you establish it at tourney's beginning.

Given the 'Highlander' format, bringing Pask or a bug squadron, I agree, that might be OP. I'd post/query your contingent: How do your players feel? If you are using FaceBook to announce (or here on Dakka) Invites, you can use that to pose the question to them, and see if they don't mind a little more competitiveness.

Good luck on your first event!
