Hi Dakka,
As the title suggests, I'm having great difficulty in upgrading my mac's OS from 10.7 Lion to the much maligned Yosemite. I really don't want to do this, but my hand is being forced. A good few of my Apps won't run on Lion since they have been upgraded, and just about every new game on Steam won't run on the OS that I use either. I just bought 'Darkest Dungeon' yesterday and it won't run, neither will Diablo 3 anymore. It runs fine for a few minutes then just dumps me onto the desktop
I run a mid-2011 21.5-inch iMac, 2.5 GHz Intel core i5, 4 GB DDR3, AMD Radeon 512
MB.
So, the problem is this. When I go to the App store to get Yosemite and to begin the process, everything starts off fine. I sign in, go to the Yosemite page and click 'Download'. After that, nothing. It drops into my Launchpad and underneath the OS X symbol it says 'Waiting...'. And that's all it does, for anywhere up to 12 hours (I started this yesterday morning before I went to work and when I came back, 12 hours later, It was still saying 'Waiting...')
I have tried the official routes but Apple (the greedy mother-fethers) want £25 from me just to talk to someone!. I'm not paying that, so before I whisk it away to my local, friendly, Comp Shop I thought I'd try here. You guy's and Gal's seem pretty knowledgeable. Any one care to help me out?
And Mod's, if this is in the wrong place feel free to move it. Ta
