Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone had any tactics when vs eldar with orks or CSM. I just had a game vs my friends eldar and my orks got masacured! Only just winning due to me having to leave.

His list had 3 warwalkers with scatter lazers
2 serpants
Flamer wraith guard
A wraith knight
(Were other things but these were what r@9ed my ass.

Turn 1 I lost all my trucks and a load of boyz, turn 2 70℅ of the boyz were dead without getting within 24"! And all the eldar were doing were backing up (something the eldar player moaned about vs the tau player in my group when he played gk's)

So how would you best tackle it? (Anything in our book is available to me really) it just was no fun knowing it was a little one sided! (Even though I won a very narrow victory) though this might be due to the lack of line of sight blocking terrain, but he has refused to make any but has rivers all across the board causing a massive hindrance to my army

(The game was 1500 BTW)

You'll want to get in his face fast while covering those trucks or wagons. The problem sounds like terrain though, and I would advise not playing against them again until its suited to both your needs. Rivers are not going to be giving you cover saves or blocking line of sight. The eldar player doesn't even have to worry about it most of the time his skimmers and battlefocused fleet. Change the map or don't play - it's his advantage if you don't.

I am an eldar play and these two things hurt me

1) Get all the all AV14 trukks front armour you can get. put 20 boys in there with a closed top thingie.. and put the trukks side by side and fit every heavy weapon you can to them then get that mechanic ork that can fix broken things

2) also heavy bikers.. get those bikers add warbosses with the nobz.. get about 10 of those

I had a group of 4 auto cannons with my Havocs and was able to put enough shots to down a Wave Serpent each turn when I was facing them last. Got some lucky Pens too.

That bolded part? Yeah, this is where it's going to get tough. Fight on a fair playing field. The fact your opponent refuses already makes me think that they are in it to win without any thought to the fact that it is a game. If you can convince your opponent to pay with more blocking LOS terrain, you might be OK. If not, I would recommend not playing him.

But if you have to play him, Battlewagons work well. Greentide is also a strong army (but I'm not sure how effective it would be).

Ahh, Orks v Eldar, with limited terrain. A challenging match up indeed. Was this a kill point game or an objective game? Orks holding objectives without cover is a tough puzzle indeed.

Depending on the dimensions of your game table, a unit of Smasha Gunz, with their 36" range, can be a viable option. On a good roll, they can totally krump AV 10 open topped War Walkers. On a bad roll, they can at least get a glance or two.

While this recommendation may be controversial, consider outflanking Warbuggyz or DeffKoptas with TL Rokkits. I find outflanking very useful against cowardly space elves who retreat on purpose. These S8 TL baddies rock some rear AV on the turn they arrive, but will probably die and/or run away the turn after that.

I agree with bikes and/or Nob bikers. Turbo boost them the first turn. They either will get shot at and die/run away, hopefully leaving your other units unscathed; or, they will survive to charge something, so it won't shoot and run away.

Also, running Battlewagons side by side hide side armor somewhat, forcing the elves to shoot you in the AV 14 front.

his massive volume of fire demands only one possible answer: dont be there when the punch lands.

By that I mean you must know just looking at that list that if you ARE a target that he can reach he will victimize you and your closest models will go down and never reach him.

So a few things:
1. Snikrot and the gang. At 1500 points? Gold.
2. Artillery. It can be hiden and fired., its supr high toughness makes even his firepower earn it.
3. Reserve everything but artillry and make him come for you. the less rouns of fire he gets and the less distance you have to cross to reach him, the more powerful you'll be when you attack. Crossing the distance between you is suicide but forcing him into YOU is genius.

Thanks for the replies guys! He's actually made 1 piece of los blocking terrain but it looks quite small from the PIC so I'll have to comment next time I'm there.

Yeah I agree, next time I go against him I'll enforce more los terrain, though his opinion is that los blocking terrain is too much in my favour but then this is coming from a guy who doesn't think duel dreadknights are cheese, and orks are stronger than eldar so what do I know right? :p.

Another thing that was mentioned was how the mega lucky stikk boss is broken and when I made reference to serpant spam (4 is spam in his eyes....), wraith knight and warwalkers he thought them to be mediocre.

Thing is this guy is my friend so not playing against him really isn't an option, I'd prefer to smash him at his own cheesyness than just say "nope" and pack up.

best bet: When he espuses qualitative opinions, don't take the bait. Also, dont offer any. Just tell him simply: "lets just alternate terrain and play"
