Hey guys!

I just started my Space Viking army and i want to play it as a drop pod army!

I want to play a 1250 list but i am not able to decided which HQ to choose.

I am planning about doing 5 squad of grey hunter with 2 melta 1 sergant with melta bomb. thats 210 per squad with the drop pod.

Thats 1050 pts and i keep every thing in reserve and let the other player start versus my army thats not even on the table :-)

with 200 pts, what will you do?

Thanks!

The HQ I find most efficient for me is the Wolf Lord or Rune Priest as both are fairly cheap and the Wolf Lord is really good are fighting, whist the Rune Priest goes for a different approach and use awesome psychic powers! Hope this helps

Yep, the witch HQ is your best bet.

For a Drop List with Melta, ML2 Rune Priest all the way. Roll on Telepathy, take Psychic Shriek, then take Prescience from Divination. PS is a great way to take care of Riptides and such, or wreck an otherwise-hard low-size unit, and after that, Divination is just great.

You'd need to either drop a guy from a pod to fit him in (which means no second Melta), or take another squad with your leftover points (not hugely worth it, with only 100 or so to spare), but that's the way to go.

Thanks for the tips! I could put some CC weapon with the 100 pts on every grey hunter? Will it be worth it?

Hmmm, really depends on what you are planning to do with them, but I would say yes if you can afford it (point wise) as it's always good to have the capability to not be completely helpless if you get charged. Hope this helps

In ur base, killin ur d00dz

Rune Priest, Wolf Lord or Wolf Priest kitted out with a relic and some bits and bobs honestly can't go wrong. I usually prefer them to the named characters as well since they can get some better options to work with my play strategy.

Oh yes, if you have the point then certainly throw CCW on the Hunters. Especially in a pod list, they throw up huge issues for the enemy. You land, pop your Meltas off at the nearest tank, and then the enemy has the following choice to make:

- Charge you, in which case they eat Overwatch then have to face 3 attacks per guy?

- Shoot you, maybe kill a few, and get pistolled and charged next turn?

- Move out of charge range, conceding ground for you to take objectives or land more Pods?

Basically, whatever the enemy's weakness, you are in a position to exploit it. If they are cc-based, you can rapid-fire until they decided to charge you and then fight just as if you'd charged them. If they are shooty, you can charge them the next turn far more effectively and just sweep them away.

Depending on positioning, you might also want to sneak a Banner in there. Place well, a decent number of your units might reap the benefits of the extra attack.
