I agree, 50/50 is much more effective, because when you take losses, the fire power can continue at a higher rate.

Personally I run Termagants x20, then add x10 Devilgaunts (with Devourers) when I want a Tervigon. (2/1 ratio)
I very strongly suggest you put a Thorax hive on the Tervigon, it is just too handy not to take.

When I use a Tervigon, I like to use Hive Commander, to Outflank.

When it arrives you can spawn a bubblewrap, and the Template will come in handy.
I also think you should try to fill your third Elite slot, even if that means splitting the Zoeys up.

That gives an extra roll on Powers of the Hive Mind! And 2 extra
WC.
You should also think about running the Warriors with less gear, a "vanilla" Brood, x3, with a Cannon is only 100 points. And will work almost as well, most of the time.

IG, so I often have x2 Deathspitters for 110. Rending Claws x2 would cost the same 10 points, but I don't think you'll get your full value from both.
You may find that after you play Nids awhile, that a Formation would help, so I suggest you try to build to 1000 to 1200, then add one in.
