Hi

So I'm looking at using tigurius to grant endurance on a land speeder storm with tellion and 4 scouts with snipers inside.

*Note, I know I cannot target the squad, just the speeder.

So the speeder will gain fnp (4+), iternal warrior and relentless

First of all; relentless "counts as stationary when firing heavy, salvo and ordanance weapons"... so does this mean as the vehicle has this special rule, it is stationary, meaning passengers can still fire at full bs? ...much like Space marines on bikes?.

Also does the vehicle benefit from the fnp?

Any help is much appreciated

Regards

Dip

1) Relentless is done by a model basis so no, embarked units will still be subject to firing snapshots with Heavy Weapons should the vehicle move.

(Also note that Vehicles have the Relentless rule anyway)

2) You don't roll to wound against vehicles, so vehicles don't benefit from FnP

The vehicle is considered stationary for firing its own weapons. It's not stationary for any other purpose.

So in general, how are embarked units in an open-top transport treated?

I couldn't find anything specific about this in the rulebook, this make me draw the following conclusions:

1. When the transport moves, the crew inside it is considered having "moved" as normal.
2. If the embarked unit have rapid fire, assault weapons or pistols, can they fire with full BS as normal. I.e. they are not affected by vehicles rules that requires vehicles to only fire snap shots if moved more than 6".
3. If the embarked unit have heavy or salvo weapons, they fire as if they had moved a normal move in the movement phase (i.e. 6" if they were not on a transport), meaning heavy weapons snap shot and salvo weapons at half range + lower frequency.

Is this the correct interpretation?

Page 80, second paragraph of "Fire Points". The Open-topped rule only changes how many passengers can fire and from where, everything else remains the same - units embarked in open-topped transports are treated the same as units embarked in non-open-topped transports:
1) If the vehicle remained stationary, the unit insides counts as stationary.
2) If the vehicle moved Combat Speed (<6" ), then the unit inside counts as having moved for the purposes of shooting - Rapid Fire weapons are unaffected, Heavy weapons have to snap-shot etc.
3) If the vehicle moved Cruising Speed (>6", up to 12" ), then the unit inside can only fire snap-shots, even if they have Rapid Fire weapons.
