Ork Boy Hangin' off a Trukk

I'm putting together an ork list that is pretty much a speed freek list. I'm using a lot of trukks with slugga boyz in them. I'm also taking 2 or so full mobs of bikers (normal boyz, not nobz).

How are bikers usually played? Are you trying to get them in to close combat? Or are you primarily shooting with them?

If you're trying to slam them into close combat, does it make sense to upgrade one to a nob with bp/pk?

Personally, id take shoota boyz instead of sluggas (although I only have sluggas atm). The 20 or so shots on top of the charge is a great tool and the -1 attacks in CC isn't a huge loss i'd find. Others may have another experience with them though.

The current plan seems;
15 bikers
1 warboss ob bike (DLS potentially)
1 painboy on bike

What you get with this is a unit of T5 bikes that have a 4+ armour, 4+ or 3+ cover save depending on whether you turbo boost and a FNP save. all this on a 15 strong unit, meaning your not getting wiped out any time soon

So your pretty durable, yet now you pump out 17x3 TL Str 5 shots a turn. If you bring the named HQ from the dred mob, zanzhnark they also have scout, so turn 1 you can simply position yourself to decimate an enemy unit. On top of this in CC you also pack one hell of a punch, your bikes provide plenty of wounds while your nob biker can eat a challenge, and your warboss goes to town.

You can support this with smaller bike units to suit, added with a nob for some PK hits and armour krumpin. You can also run a smaller main unit, but the power of the DLS and painboy are more effective the larger unit.

In terms of whether CC or shooting, in general an 18"range means you dont need to CC and you provide plenty of fire power. But you can assault and you can assault after shooting , but you want to make sure you dont wipe them the turn you assault, so preferable to assault larger units that will take 2 rounds to munch through.

Favourite Game: When your Warboss on bike wrecks 3 vehicles simply by HoW - especially when his bike is a custom monowheel.
