Now that I've gotten your attention with my title let me begin.

In Xenology, a necron makes a reference to "lords and ladies". This means that there were female necrons. And they probably had sex.

Currently, Necrons do not appear to have the necessary "Spare parts". Did the Necrons consider this issue before bio-transference?


Some might say that this is not much of a loss, since it is unlikely that they experience any urges, nor do they have the capability to enjoy the activity.


What do you think is the current status of Necron females? Would you give up sex in order to become powerful and immortal?

The necrontyr had males and females. After becoming Necrons there's not actually any physical difference, but they appear to keep their sexual identity.

On the other hand, I can't imagine Necron sex of any sort (barring the remote possibility of virtual sex depicted in Demolition Man, which uses a pair of devices that looks like Virtual Boys and link two human minds together to produce near-euphoria states on both parties). More importantly, I just can't see any benefits of sex for the Necrons post-biotransfer. They were designed to be mere tools for the C'tan, so what use is sex for a bunch of tools if they couldn't procreate?

Well, the Necrontyr were apparently rather wretched creatures, so I can hardly imagine much attractiveness out of their camp. Anyway, it seems that pretty much every race barring orks (maybe Tyranids?) reproduce sexually, so I don't see the Necrontyr being an exception.

As for post-turning-into-robot-zombies, I doubt they have any more obstructive processes like pregnancy. Especially when you can just manufacture new bodies, and your conscience is treated like data.

My theory with the Necrontyr was that they were a short-lived species, and therefore rather prolific.

As such when they switched to robot bodies their population may have been as high as the Imperium's. They probably assumed that was enough.

Of course they could also do a lot of crtl-c and crtl-v these days given how little personality is left in the lower castes (warriors and immortals).
