Okay Gents,
I am having a few buddies over for 40k. I assembled four 500 point armies for a little 2v2. I was just looking to get opinions to make sure the armies aren't too complicated, but also that the battle will be somewhat fair. Here is what I have:

BA
-Captain w/ JP
-Sanguinary Priest w/ JP
-5-Man Assault Marines w/ JP
-Tactical Squad w/ Flamer, Missile Launcher, Razorback

IG/AM
-CCS w/ 2x Plasma, Chimera
-Infantry Platoon w/ 3x Autocannon, 3x Flamer
-LRBT

VERSUS

Orks
-Warboss
-Painboy
-2x Ork Boyz Mobs (one with 20 orks + Nob, the other with 27),
-5x Lootas

CSM
-Chaos Lord
-2x Plague Marines w/ 2x Plasma each
-Chaos Predator w/ Autocannon and Lascannon Sponsons

I am obviously leaving some of the more specific details out. I tried to leave out any psykers just to make the game easier initially. I have almost any model for the above armies, so any suggestions to make it more balanced would be great. I was hoping to embody each armies specific trend/direction in the army list. The only one I am concerned with is the BA, I am not too sure of a 500 point army with them, I come from 5th edition, so my original lists are poo-poo in 7th. Also is the LRBT too much? I just wanted to let the IG/AM player have some fun with the templates.

Any and all suggestions are welcomed! Thanks.

I think the lists are ballanced. I'd probably add a nob in the second boy squad just cause without nob it ain't very functional. Orks need indeps with pk + bp.

On the other hand, it'd be more fair if both teams had transpots - and not just the imperium guyz. Transports provide enormous benefits especially in low pt games. CSM could do with rhinos for their marines. Well, at least 1 rhino. While orks could maintain their hordey feeling.

The bigger squad is where the Warboss and Painboy are going to go thus why no Nob. Also points was going to be an issue.

Added about transports in the post above.

Well, orks generally get use of as many characters as possible. Including nobz and slotless meks. Can even go without a PK if you feel so. But orks do need as many characters as possible. Due to mob rule and challenges.

The Ork list looks a little weak to me, The Lootas are pretty good with their S7 shooting, but it seems like with this list whoever hits first / more accurately will get the upper hand. If the autocannons can wipe out the lootas, the Orks will be walking for two turns (Assuming they don't get blown up by the LRBT pie plate) before doing much. It also seems like whichever person's armor is able to get a pen hit / weapon destroyed first will also be the de facto winner.

However, if you're looking for a quick game this might be for the best since it will be over quickly and won't drag on thus you can play another. As stated above if you wanted to get a little more complicated I'd have Chimeras/Trukks/Rhinos, but this seems introductory so maybe not having to learn embarking / disembarking might be for the best.

- EDIT: Also as said before, the ork mob without a nob is probably going to take a hit, fail mob rule, and hurt itself further. This will teach the new ork player the expectation to randomly lose all your models as an ork player

I agree with the ID with the Orks, maybe I will drop some boyz to add another Nob. In regards to the transport for the CSM, I am unsure of how to tweak the list to include a transport. I would have to drop one group of nurgle and I guess pick up cultist instead just to get the rhino?

1 rhino with havok launcher (cause canonical csm weapon) carrying marines/plague marines. Others footslogging.
Also, note that CSM player should probably not get used to foc swapping from the start. It's a thing from the past.

Oh, also, i'd introduce meltas.

So drop the one Plague marine squad for it? Or should I drop the Predator? I don't have my point lists with me. I wanted to avoid the cultist just cause I thought it would make the list too similar to the ORks.

Think you should keep a predator. It's a long-ranged part of the ork+csm side. Could play with plague marines/regular marines/cultists.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Also, i find it better to start with eternal war missions rather than maelstorm. Maelstorm could be confusing and tiresome for new players. Introduce them to aelstorm when they get aquainted. Like after 3-4 games.

Yea we are going to go with Maelstorm with two objectives in the middle of the field, spaced about 2 feet apart.

I think I may drop the one Plague marine squad for a CSM w/ a missile launcher, and then use the remaining points to beef up the plague marine squad with more troops.

The Guard lack AV. I usually put Meltas in my squads when facing vehicles. Statistically all of the Autocannons and Plasma Guns at 24" are doing 0.66 hull points to the Predator per turn.

Peregrine - If you like the army buy it, and don't worry about what one random person on the internet thinks.

Well my thought process is that the BA will be able to help that out with their ML/LC. The IG will bring the guns to thin the Orks, and the BA will need to counter the Chaos.
