Hey everyone, I'm building a 1000pt Crimson Fists Army and would love some feedback. I've used the Quartermaster App to build two Army's, but I'm stuck, and could use some advice which is stronger, and some additional changes/upgrades to make it more competitive. I plan on using this Army list at my local GW, so I'm not concerned about winning tournaments, just getting into the game and having a well rounded Army. Thanks in advance.

Tactical Squad Rectris (10 Space Marines) (225 Points)
- Sergeant: Combi-melta, melta bombs, powerfist
- Squad: Meltagun

- Sergeant: Boltgun
- Squad: 4x Missile Launchers (frag, krak and flakk missiles)

Army List #2 (996 Points)

Epistolary (Librarian) Deguerro (90 Points)
- Mastery Level 2, boltgun, force weapon

Tactical Squad Anto (9 Space Marines & Librarian) (176 Points)

First of all, welcome. Imperial Fist Chapter Tactics are great if you build the list to utilize them. I like the second list better by far, because i don't like the Assault Squad and regular Dreadnought in the first.

I like your use of devastators with flakk missiles and tank hunter; it makes them better... normally they're not worth taking because they are so expensive, but I could see it justified in this case. However, I think you are better off using your devastators for anti-vehicle with lascannons. In fact, I'd even recommend lascannon / missile launcher Centurion Devastators instead. They can move and shoot (including staying in reserve and walking on if you need to) and have protection from things that are AP3 and ignore cover.

I think you should handle anti-air with another flier or else dedicated anti-tank vehicles (a pair of stalkers or hunters).

I like the Tactical squads that have melta and combi-melta, and the power fist is fine too if you have the points.

Scouts are nice if they have bolters, otherwise the sniper outfit won't do you much and will leave you very disappointed. They have one shot each, poor BS and only wound half the time that they do hit.. and they don't pin anymore. You can't really move them or else they might as well not shoot... you see where I'm going with that. I really recommend 5 bolter scouts in a Land Speeder Storm (w/heavy flamer).

The Ironclad is nice as well, and I like that load-out a lot.

Welcome to the Crimson Fists! This is my personal favorite army out of all of them, so I like to consider myself 'experienced' in this army. I kinda like the overall plan, but you need to play to your CT. Starting off, change the scouts to have boltguns and heavy bolter, and if you can have them ride in a LS Storm. Secondly put the Libby with something else. Seeing a 9 man tactical squad makes me cringe. Also it lets you bring a heavy weapon. I like ML, LC or HB.Finally, I would drop the power fist for a multi melta in the 10 man tactical squad.

Overall, I prefer the second list for a few reasons but there is no reason not to mix and match. Also, I love the names for them, makes them personal. Like it's not just a tactical squad, it's tactical squad Anto. I do that as well so it's good to know I'm not the only one doing it!

If you can't believe in yourself, believe in me! Believe in the Dakka who believes in you!

Thanks for the input; I was definitely leaning toward the second army list myself, and your comments help sell it. I really like the Ironclad in #2.

I didn't even think of the CT with the Scouts and bolters, so that should be an easy change, and save a few points. I'll see if I can move some points around to get the Scouts in a Land Speeder Storm.

If I beefed up the tactical squad to 10 Space Marines, where should the Libririan be placed? Could he stay in the back with the Devastators and still be useful? Or could he be placed with a Centurion Devastator squad? Lastly, could I drop one Tactical Squad since I have Scouts and use those points toward the Centurion Devs or the LS Storm? Or is that a horrible idea since id only be left with one Tactical Squad to capture objectives?

I'm currently reading Rynn's World and love the book; have about 75 pages left. I found a picture from Planetstrike that outlined the survivors and used that as a guide for some squad/character names; mixed with some of my favorite characters from the book of course.

Hey I personally would keep the tac squads and the scouts and get 4x Lascannons devastators, thank way you can still have epic tank hunting lascannons and it won't take up a third of your army like centurions would.
