OK, been playing a lot. The list has changed significantly. Not sure it can work. But worth a go.... I hope.....
HQ - Flyrant, TLBL Dev, boneswords, hive commander, E grubs.
Elites - Veno
Elites - Veno
Elites - Zoey
Troops - Terrington, claws, E grubs
Troops - Termiguants x30
Troops - Hormagaunts x15, toxin sacs
Troops - Children of Cryptus
Fast attack - Hive Crone
Heavy - Mawloc
Heavy - Trygon Prime, toxin sacs.
Formations - Living artillery node.
Do you think this is tactically viable? Hold the Trygon and hormagaunts in reserve. Possibly outflank the tervigon depending on mission. The matlock can start and Bury turn one to guarantee an turn two strike. On the board is the children, the Veno's, the Zoey, the flyrant and the 30 guants (may outflank them depending) and the artillery node. I'm hoping that when the Trygon prime arrives the poisoned guants can come up from the tunnel. It means I should be able to get them. To their target a lot more safely.
What do people think?

It certainly looks viable, but Fliers work best in pairs or better, with only the one, it makes targeting priority much simpler. The Prime is a little over priced these days (Smash got nerfed) so it sees little play, but Tunnel assault is a doable thing, though I think I would try it with a "Endless Swarm" Formation (see my old "Endless Tunnel Assault" list for ideas)
You have a very good "ground presence", and should do very well vs MEQ, and most any infantry based force. One of the few "strengths" of our Codex is the Heavy slot. So if you find you're having problems, try to add a third Heavy.

Yeah, the heavys a string slot. But quite points intensive. I've squeezed the artillery node in in an attempt to utilise 4 different heavy slots. To add another, I don't know what id do as I'm trying to remain fluffy too. I know about the flyers in pairs... I have a flyrant and the crone, so it kind of works. Again, to squeeze a second one in means losing something different. You'll notice the only unit duplicated is the Veno. I'm trying to mix it up with lots of options and different units. I'm not interested in the standard nid list with multiples of the same unit.
My primary oponents are tau, iron hands and blood angels. I'm relatively confident that I have a semi decent chance of beating their lists....
.... Maybe.... Automatically Appended Next Post: As for the prime... I know it is expensive. I did have a kitted our fex in its place and some more poisoned guants... But it didn't feel right and I though he'd be killed fast. I know smash got nerfed and it really hurt. But I like the prime. It also could serve as rapid synapse deployment.

Yeah, it is a sturdy source of Synapse, that can Deep Strike. Combine it with an Outflanking Big Brood of Termagants, then Tunnel in some Force Multipliers( Zoey, Veno), or just more Troops (like Toxic Hormagaunts) The "best" Heavy to add is likely a Dakkafex, or a second Mawloc. Mawloc is a hit or miss, but when it is on, it is the best dang unit in the Codex.

I can't bring myself to take a dakkafex. It just doesn't sit right with me with in the lore of the nids. I want to take rampaging fex's with claws and talons and plasma.... But I fear they would die far too fast.

A Screamer Killer is still a good MC, it is just far inferior under the current rules. You can put it inside a Pod (Tyrannocyte?)though, and do some damage. Carnifex, Bio-Plasma 140? Pod, 75, so 215?(230 with Adrenal)
You can also use what I call a "Bug Star", where you use several different units together. Screamer-Killer, Zoey, Venothrope, Brood of Hormagaunts, x15....140+50+45+75= 305 about the cost of an "Elite" unit...
The Zoey is Synapse, and has Powers of the Hive Mind!, and has a Warp Blast/Lance, the Veno gives Shrouding, The S-K is the heavy hitter, and the Hormagaunts are the screen, that should be a 3+ Cover save or better. Most of the shooting is at the Big Bug(s) so the screen is pretty durable (and has a 5+ cover save as well)
Once you get close the screen can charge, taking the Overwatch, then the S-K can join the combat. But a Dakkafex would be far more effective, and only costs 10 more points... The only time the S-K shines is vs MEQ because of the AP 2, vs AP zilch for Brain Leeches. I like to add Adrenal to Screamer Killers, though that raises the price to 155. If you magnetise, you can try all sorts of kit.

Yeah, I like the idea of fex's like I say. They do fit the lore. And my opponents are predominantly MEQ. I just don't know how or where I'd fit it in this list. The only unit that I could drop us the prime, but the tunnel and more importantly that big tower of synapse is too valuable I think.

Yeah, you only look to have 4 sources of Synapse, plus the Warriors in the LAN. That is mighty 'light" for 2000 points. As long as you have good BLOS terrain, you can hide the Warriors, and the Zoey. But a Drop pod force will skunk you bad.
Well, that is why we play the game, to learn stuff, and have some fun rolling dice. Good luck, and good hunting!
