G'day folks. I figured I'd post this here instead of in "40k Army Lists" because a) I'm not looking to battle and b) I'm looking for lore-consistency, rather than points.

I'm building a Dark Eldar army to paint --- I needed another hobby other than writing, before I went postal. It'll include around 40 Kabalite Warriors/Trueborn, which I managed to grab off eBay for $15 (AUD). My hope is to have these guys the cannon fodder of an army that is led by wyches and scourge.

From some preliminary research, I was thinking of 3 succubus, 10 wyches (maybe 20), 5 scourge (maybe 10) --- however, I'd like to make it consistent with the lore of 40k, so I'm here to ask what combination of Succubus, Wyches, Scourge, and Kabalite Warriors/Trueborn would make a lore-consistent army (one likely to side with a troupe of Harlequins), and do I in fact need to invest in an Archon (I'd rather not) or something else?

Hope you can help me out!

A Wych cult has 3 Succubi, which you've included. It also includes a good few Blood Brides and more Wyches then you can count. To be fluffly accurate you don't need to use 3 Succubi, in fact it would be more in-line with the fluff if you didn't, Succubi rarely work together unless they have their own motives.

Scourges are mercenaries the same as Incubi and to an extend, Mandrakes. So you can include a few units of each, but they should never out number your cult units (Wyches, Beast Pack, Reavers, Blood Brides). Warriors do not work for Wych Cults, but that does not mean you have to include an Archon to justify a Kabal. Those Warriors could represent a Mercenary group working in close association with the cult, which would make fluff sense.

Harlequins could also fit into your cults fluff as well. It's entirely plausible that your cult regularly stages Harlequin performances so they have unusually close ties with them.

According to the new codex the Kabal of the Flayed Skull has an archon who leads a unit of trueborn, 3+ units of warriors an air force and a number of raiders.

They have wych cult allies which include a succubus, a unit of blood brides, a few units of wyches, a unit of reavers and helions and beast masters.

They also have haemunculus cult allies with a similar organisation.

Mandrakes, Incubi and scourges are all mercenaries whose services the Archon can buy.

Just what I can remember from the codex.
